We have a neighbour who takes down Halloween & puts up Christmas on 1st November. I admire their commitment but it is much too early. Christmas should last all month but that month should be December

Deeply enjoying these

Daughter had a meltdown as she was cold. So I put a jumper on her and she had another meltdown.

Now we're onto the 3rd meltdown as I tried to take it off

Hilariously they work on the same theory except it doesn't really, My house built in 2018 is in band D which is based on "what it would be worth if it had existed in 1991" despite the fact that every reasonably similar house surrounding it that did actually exist in 1991 is band B

The Omelas jester
if elon just hired an Inverse Jester (guy hired to listen to his jokes and pretend they're funny) we could solve every problem except how to keep the inverse jester from killing himself

Aside from dropping Last Jedi down a few places this is solid
haven’t seen ROS or Solo but this seems like a pretty ball-knowing list from Pritzker, particularly if he volunteered the name “Star Wars” rather than “A New Hope”

Walk out my house and straight into the sea.

Begin new life as a mermaid.
What's your absolutely unworkable plan to drop out of your current life (or at least work life) and do something completely different?

Very true, even in really well researched conditions half the time all the research has been done on white guys in the western world so it's not as useful as we'd like, I guess it's more vibes-based than we'd hope which, with active misinformation out there as well, makes it really hard

I would be useless without my friends for so many other things, may we all have a variety of friends that are good at different stuff so together we make at least 1 functional person

Completely fair, it can be super difficult to work out what sources are reliable if you're not going straight from the peer-reviewed literature! I just smash my head against academic papers until they make sense lol but it is 100% possible I may not have understood them as well as I think!

Trust the science when the science is good. There's just not enough research been done on things like endo and a lot of other "women's" conditions to fully trust the medical establishment on them. Whereas the science on vaccines, a lot of cancers etc. is very extensive and very good

Somehow it appears to be real, what even is reality these days
Pope makes unexpected appearance at priest DJ’s cathedral rave
The Pope just delivered a message to ravers outside a 14th-century cathedral (with music by ‘The Clerical Brothers’, perhaps...?).

Good luck to you! We just had to reshuffle my daughter's room as she discovered she could reach the light switch from her cot. Cue very alarmed screaming

New affirmation
the key to overcoming imposter syndrome lies not in understanding that you're better than this but in accepting that everyone else is worse than this

It's somewhat disconcerting to hear a chunk of your inside thoughts written out by someone else's outside voice
this week's newsletter is titled "aren't you tired of feeling insane all the time?" and I think it speaks for itself

it is also free to read

Good to know my insane procrastination skills extend to both quiet and busy periods at work. Apparently 1 week to deadline isn't far enough away to kick myself into gear 😳
