Whoa. This quote hit me hard: “At one point in Pluribus, Carol is speaking to the Hive Mind, in the body of an authority figure. He assures her they are going to “figure out what is wrong with you,” and when she asks what he means, he replies, “so you can join us.” “
Living with Long COVID often feels like living in a horror movie. Along with your disease comes a creepy Hive Mind refusal to acknowledge the dangers of COVID infection. In Vince Gilligan's new Apple TV show Pluribus, the Hive Mind comes to life:

No-needle test can tell if flu/COVID vaccines are effective.

University of Pittsburgh researchers developed a skin patch that detects antibodies for COVID and flu. It’s far more sensitive than current tests, requires only 0.5 volts of power, and delivers results in 10 minutes fast

People often push the disabled to take risks with our health.

They think if it’s already “that bad” who cares if it gets worse

We care.

Our baselines mean everything to us.

Whatever limited function we have left is always worth protecting.

You don’t get it until you get it.

the early LC community on twitter literally saved my life. i would have had no idea what to do otherwise, and none of the drs i saw in 2020 did, either

UPDATE: Canada has announced that it has lost its measles elimination status.

This is a direct result of the increase in anti-vax disinformation, which has caused large, sustained outbreaks in the country over the last year.

Another banger essay: “People may understand that COVID exists and is infecting people, but feel that “it’s here to stay,” “we can’t fight it”, and “I’d rather be with my family”- giving themselves up to the virus in order to join with the majority due to fear of isolation.”

Even as someone who has never had COVID (that I know of) this is so real. It feels like the entire world is gaslighting me abt Long COVID, climate change, capitalism, Democrats, Palestine, etc.

I can see the appeal of just enjoying my life with no sense of responsibility, but I cannot and will not.

Thankful we have each other in our small but mighty COVID safe community, & grateful for ethical scientists like @fitterhappieraj.bsky.social who early on & at great cost to themselves, put the hard truth out there abt this terrible virus—a truth that roughly 95%+ of people are still in denial abt.
Tern is right. It’s great having an informed online community that’s adapted to the ongoing pandemic reality and is doing everything possible to stay safe.

I know it’s been a tough ride, but please know you are not alone.

Remember when Biden dropped the COVID isolation guidelines down to just 5 days, not because of any actual medical science, but because the Delta CEO asked him to?

Our lives have always been meaningless to establishment Dems compared to the profits of the donor class.
It just makes it look like they said, oh, shit, I had to scrap my weekend at the lake house because my flight was canceled. Or worse, the airlines called and I sold out my constituents at the order of the Delta CEO. I’m no Senate whisperer but when people look at the math it isn’t great.

Can't emphasize how damaging this is. A single non-scientist—Peter Bogner—holds all power & makes all decisions at GISAID & provides no justifications for any of them, except blatantly false ones.

He has that power because he conned rich & powerful people into giving it to him. Enough.
I want to spell this out in case the implications aren't clear:

This means all public tools/webapps of GISAID data (all the ones you've been used to seeing thru the pandemic, as far as we can tell) are prohibited.

The file allowed this. Cut that - cut off all tools the public & others were using.
On Oct 1, 2025, GISAID informed us that they had ended updates to the flat file of SARS-CoV-2 genomic sequences and associated metadata that we had used to update Nextstrain analyses since Feb 2020. GISAID's stated rationale was that their "resources are limited". 1/5
