The world of 2019, the world as it was before Covid-19 took hold, is gone forever. Wishful thinking and playacting will not bring it back. We are now living in a world of unrestrained disease, a world in which strong, uncompromising measures of caution and safety are urgently necessary.

As you correctly say, the denial of Covid-19 is probably connected to different reasons for different people, but I believe that there is also a general, underlying refusal to acknowledge the self-evident truth of Covid-19, a refusal that currently prevails throughout the human community.

Wearing a respirator mask in all public spaces during the ongoing pandemic of Covid-19 is both rational and necessary.

A few of the harsh truths that most people refuse to acknowledge:

Covid-19 is not a "mild" disease.

Every infection of Covid-19 results in irreparable harm, which is frequently unseen in the short term.

No one ever fully "recovers" from Covid-19.

The pandemic of Covid-19 is still ongoing, causing irreparable harm everywhere, and anyone who says otherwise is either a fool or a liar.

All healthcare workers are morally obligated to wear respirator masks during the ongoing pandemic of Covid-19. Any refusal to do so is completely unacceptable.

Healthcare workers who refuse to wear respirator masks during the ongoing pandemic of Covid-19 have chosen to be enemies of public health. Their deliberate negligence is grossly immoral and utterly condemnable.

Expressing the harsh truth regarding the extreme danger of Covid-19 in an honest, straightforward manner is not "fearmongering." Those who deny the danger of Covid-19 are fools who lack the courage to acknowledge a disease that poses an overt threat to their well-being.

I never had much faith in people, even before the current pandemic of Covid-19 began, but what little faith I did have has been sharply diminished, because it seems that at least 99% of the human species has irrationally chosen to accept the irreparable harm of uncontrolled Covid-19.

It's a blah sort of day today, but this color palette has not failed in cheering me up a bit. If you are feeling blah (or have passed through that stage into Flailing Kermit), I hope this WIP of little colorful dwelling adds a glimmer of brightness to your Sunday. 🫶
A work in progress of a row of colorful dwellings. The watercolor pencils and water brush I am using are also in the photo. Art by me.

Perhaps not as "slow" as it might appear.

As repeated infections of Covid-19 relentlessly increase, the human community is steadily moving toward an apocalypse of mass illness and excess mortality, but hardly anyone is taking notice.

Without tough, uncompromising measures of public safety being enforced, the ongoing pandemic of Covid-19 will inevitably get much worse.

Why do I wear a respirator mask in all public spaces?

Because I know that Covid-19 constitutes an ongoing threat to my well-being.

Because I understand that preventing infection is an urgent necessity.

Because I feel morally obligated to resist the spread of harmful contagion.

As someone who wears a respirator mask in all situations of potential contagion during the ongoing pandemic of Covid-19, I find that the sight of most people shunning respirator masks and suffering repeated infections as a result makes me even more determined to avoid infection myself.

Covid-19 does not come and go.

Covid-19 is always rampant in all public spaces, at all times.

Covid-19 is a constant danger, in all seasons and in all situations.

Covid-19 poses a continual threat to the entire human community, causing irreparable harm with every infection.

Most people clearly do not understand what the final outcome is likely to be if urgent action is not taken to stop the uncontrolled spread of Covid-19. Without necessary measures of public safety being strongly enforced, there is little chance of human survival in the long term.

Every time you enter a public space without wearing a respirator mask during the ongoing pandemic of Covid-19, you increase your likelihood of serious illness and early mortality.

Do not allow anything to distract you from the urgent necessity of avoiding the life-threatening harm that results from every infection of Covid-19. To maintain essential safety, wear a respirator mask in all situations of potential contagion.

Today called for something calming and soft, and I thought this piece fit the bill. A classic Japanese-inspired scene, painted with black sumi-e ink and red Chinese watercolors.

When we are near the end, and we are about to be fatally overwhelmed by a final wave of unrestrained disease, perhaps then, in those last days, people will begin to understand that deliberately allowing Covid-19 to spread without any control was an extremely foolish thing to do.

The deliberate absence of respirator masks and other safety measures in medical settings during the ongoing pandemic of Covid-19 is a clear instance of gross negligence. It represents unmistakable evidence of a complete breakdown in fundamental ethics, and should not be accepted.
