SNAP isn't about "people who don't work." It's about people who don't get paid enough to live.

Of the 40 or so million people who rely on food stamps:

* Two-thirds are children, seniors, or disabled

* Most working-age adults who receive SNAP are employed—but in jobs that pay poverty wages

Several things here, tbh, but to me the most salient point is the fact that a lot of hyper connected objects have had close to zero design thoughts invested in cybersecurity

Deskilling is real.

This is the world generative AI peddlers long for, one where people are incompetent without their service.

Don't outsource your brain to this shit. You'll regret it.

Google fired a woman in Canada within days of finding out she was pregnant, so she's suing them and rather than just saying she wasn't fired for being pregnant they're arguing that being pregnant isn't protected by our human rights code

(they're wrong, it is)
Google Canada claims pregnancy is not a protected ground under Ontario's human rights code in defence of lawsuit
In a statement of defence as part of a lawsuit involving a pregnant employee, Google denies discrimination and wrongful dismissal.

Microsoft just became the second company to be valued at over $4 trillion.

They’ve also fired over 15,000 workers this year.

They’ve also spent over $18 billion on stock buybacks over the last year.

Decided to take up video editing as a hobby. I’m currently making short YT vids of my Pokémon cards using my phone and doodling around with them. It’s been pretty fun so far, and even only doing 2 vids I feel like I’ve learned a lot.
