If you just arrived here and are following me, hi! I have a couple lists in my profile you might be interested in. You might even be on one, if you are just getting back into an old account. If you want to be taken off, just let me know.

Beckley is about 40 minutes north of Athens, where I spent a few good summers as a kid.
“This aggression will not stand.”
Hero’s of the day - In a small town of Beckley, WV, Kendra Sullivan staged a one-woman No Kings protest. She was confronted, had the police called on her, but stood her ground. She was physically threatened. Police came more than once and protected her right to protest. This is how we do it.

Mirroring police tactics for humor. Sound on!
Im dead 😂😂😂
I am trying to imagine what my 16-year-old self would make of this future, police straddling a woman the age of my teachers dressed up like a pink private part… let alone the president she is protesting.
#NoKings event in Fairhope, Al.
A woman was arrested for "lewd conduct" because she was dressed in penis suit with a sign that said "No dick-tator"

Incredible. If they're protesting in The Woodlands, we are going to win.
No Kings protest in The Woodlands, Texas (north suburban Houston). This is the first such protest to occur in the community. I overheard a number of folks telling others that they had never attended such an event before but had gotten to the point of feeling they needed to do something.

after a clarinet player was arrested at Sunday's ICE protest in downtown Portland, I talked to five artists, crafters and makers - a puppet designer, an illustrator, a graphic designer, a knitter, and a theatre artist - about creativity under fascism

Like a lot of us here, the Lock 'Em Up-est comments I see on social media are coming from, well, extremely normal people. So I wanted to explain how extremely helpful it would be this weekend if they scared the shit out of everyone driving them nuts.

For people who’ve never been to a protest in their lives, Saturday’s ‘No Kings’ rally is a good place to start.

If you know Florida geography, the fact that there's even a No Kings protest scheduled for places like Palatka, Starke, or Bartow, and parts of the Big Bend that are more forest and swamp than populated areas is a big friggin deal.
Seems like a colleague but less Jon Lovitz “THAT’S the ticket!” than Santos himself.

Super curious for the #Comics folks… has there been a Santos expy villain in comics over the past couple years?
idk why a part of me is lightly rooting for george santos. hes just ... such a scoundrel. a real jackanapes
I’m unlikely to head out to the streets, but if you are, you might want a soundtrack….
In the heyday of Tumblr, I used to tag a lot of things #TheyAreNotLikeUs, which was all about this dynamic where I spotted it.
Loose thoughts that will probably end up on my newsletter later--a shortcoming I've been working over in my own perspective of late is how important the notion of "them" is to a conception of "us," that diminishing or dehumanizing others is how many draw the boundaries of their own identities

Seabury Quinn was the most prolific author at WEIRD TALES. His Jules de Grandin occult detect series ran to 93 stories over ~99 issues, not counting reprints. I've read them all twice. For my sins.

1 like = 1 bad summary of a Jules de Grandin story
