because that's the strategy big ticket donors prefer. the fundamental disconnect here is that big cheques demand losing messages. dems gonna have to learn to forego the big cheques - it's risky but they're losers out of the fucking gate
This is a huge issue with the Dems. They focus all their attention on being able to draw in big ticket donations because they insist it’s how you win elections, but then the money is going to a completely outdated strategy.
A big reason this is bad is it could let the Future Forward Super PAC escape any accountability for the 2024 loss. It had hundreds of millions of dollars in donor money, and the DNC report was reportedly going to fault them. Now this will remain undisclosed:

I realize Neil Gaiman is a terrible person but I am nonetheless watching Season 2 of Sandman on Netflix and it is ... interminable.
I enjoyed S1 a lot. And any one moment in S2 is fine. But it collectively adds up to endless (hah) navel gazing ugh. I suppose that's fitting, given what we now know

I think the best way to explain the X vs Bluesky preference is whether a person thinks the left is more annoying than the right is dangerous.
The reason so many Noah Smiths end up on the X side of that equation is that while the left annoys them personally, the right mostly endangers other people.

you cannot combat the dangerousness of the right by debating nazis. you carve them out of civic life you don't engage their bad faith arguments
IMO it's hard to combat the dangerousness of the right by participating in a platform where they aren't present.
