People are so fixated on heroic fantasy they have to call a story "ambiguous" when it is clearly about a traditional laconic sheriff/cowboy just straight up LOSING the battle against evil, because he can't figure out how to face evil without becoming evil himself and he is (reasonably!) scared!

Also there have been very few superhero metaphors as strong as "rage is as unhelpful to you as punching mist would be because your real problems are not material but psychological"
It's been ages since I last saw it, but I remember being generally positive about Ang Lee's Hulk and it being such an odd adaptation that definitely doesn't feel like it was designed by committee has only grown its esteem in my mind.
