✨Intro✨
I'm a stay-at-home mom and I love:
🎬Movies, mostly classics, cult, and horror.
🎨Art; my favorite artists are Ed Ruscha, Francis Bacon, and Cindy Sherman.
📚Books, mostly nonfiction or horror novels.
✍️Writing! I've been blogging about movies since 2019 and occasionally freelance.
👨‍👩‍👦‍👦My family!
It’s the last weekend for the Kino Lorber winter sale and I am verrrry tempted to get myself a few goodies for Christmas. 😬 (not alllll of these, I just take screenshots instead of building a wishlist.)

My latest essay @vulture.com is a performance review focused on Rose Byrne. Dig it.

This Is the Most Stressful, Exhausting, Brilliant Performance of the Year
Of all the mad mothers in 2025 movies, If I Had Legs I’d Kick You’s Linda is the one that will haunt me.

The White House claims the vote to rename the Kennedy Center was “unanimous.” That is false. I was muted on the call and denied the opportunity to speak or register my opposition. That is not consensus. That is censorship.

If any journalist wants to talk to a trans man with a PhD in Human Genomics who was trained in labs that studied the evolution of sex, I'm right here

Or just keep platforming Republicans who have a 5th grade understanding of biology so they get more trans people killed, sure 🤷🏻‍♂️

Just another headline making me feel sick to my stomach. This man doesn’t know or appreciate a damn thing about the arts.

what I want trans kids, queer kids, and gender nonconforming kids to know:

you are loved

you are so much more powerful than the ghouls using your healthcare as a political pawn, and you WILL outlive them (they know this, and it is why they're attacking you)

Paid for a month of Peacock with no ads because Housewives is the only way I know how to relax. These women are petty and angry and high strung and I’m like “saaaame.”

Tomorrow, the House of Representatives will vote on a bill that bans gender-affirming medical care for any transgender person under 18, and threatens any medical professional providing this care to youth with 10 years in prison.

Tell Congress to protect trans youth and vote NO.
Protect Trans Care Now
As wave after wave of extreme measures to criminalize and strip trans people of rights and safety continue, tell Congress to act.

This is why I remind my students to be careful of using the phrasing "of course"—and why historical consciousness is important as well. There were generations of artists, from Ashcan School to Abstract Expressionists to East Village artists in 1980s, who found NYC an affordable place to live & work

If you want to celebrate the life of Rob Reiner tonight and you haven't seen it, the documentary about his best friend, ALBERT BROOKS: DEFENDING MY LIFE, is as much about Brooks as it is Reiner's love for his lifelong best friend. As fall down hilarious as it is sweet & touching. It's a must see.

Unfollowed and/or blocked multiple pages for posting AI content this past week or so. Feels like a bit of an influx of slop lately—at least in my own little bubble, where I often manage to avoid it.
