the actual story here, which the media never talks about, is that police in this country have become a discrete right-wing political operation. the story isn't about cops leaving (they're lying about that), it's about the police trying to exert influence over elections.

It is easier if Israel is uniquely "fake", the culture there uniquely "stolen", the people there uniquely "bloodthirsty" and "greedy." It is much harder to reckon with how Israel just concentrates and reflects patterns of violence with endless antecedents reverberating across the entire globe.

Most disgusting one I've seen is a demo directly comparing Westminster's treatment of Scotland with Israel's treatment of Gaza. I must have missed the bit last year where Starmer bombed the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.
