A few Vornado tips:

- The minerals that would go in the air end up in the paper wicks which get crusty and stop absorbing water. You can make them last longer by soaking in vinegar and rinsing.

- The units are expensive new but I see them in thrift stores occasionally and always pick them up.

We will greatly miss Al Nagler, founder of Tele Vue Optics (@televueoptics.bsky.social), who left us Monday. I was honored to know him: a brilliant man with a gentle and joyful disposition. Among many other accomplishments, he designed the Wide Field Imager optics in use on the PUNCH mission. ☀️🔭

I just had an amusing (to me) exchange with a parts supplier. Maybe it will be amusing to you too:

they’re currently testing a very cool new experimental nasa jet rn.

just in case you’re an airplane pervert and you didn’t know yet
I've been using Vornado evaporative humidifiers for years. You need to replace the wicks every couple months which isn't super cheap, but they don't cover everything with white powder like the ultrasonics do.

cat is writing about academic/research-related writing but this rule applies to creating anything that uses ideas imo!! i've seen many such fatal spin-outs
It's an action killer, that so many people get stuck in, to never be able to stop your mind spinning out endless ruminations about the thousand threads that your thing connects to! They're real things! But the people who can't overcome this don't finish their creative work.
Also needs to be said there's a massively big difference between citations that are like, "I am telling you the Most Significant Theory that has ever Had Influence in an area", which is fine if you're doing idk, boring history? But much writing is saying, "here's a good piece of evidence about this"
