Fandoms thrive best when there's an ecosystem of licensed dealers and fans more than willing to support them.

..Which works until the new owners of Star Trek raise their licensing fees 2000%, forcing this fine small business (and many others) to abandon Trek. 🤬

Even the Ferengi aren't this stupid.
very sad to see this email from Hero Within in my inbox today. They are losing their Star Trek license as a result of the merger increasing costs.

Read the thread and let it comfort you. RIP Rob and Michelle Reiner
This is a splendid and informative thread, and I wish it hadn't taken the tragedy over Rob Reiner to bring it to my attention.
As you may know, I have stopped using Twitter, and have decided to reproduce some of my more memorable threads here for posterity. Here’s one I hold wrote after a particularly engaging swordfighting lesson.

Buckle up, swordfighting fans, because I *have* studied my Agrippa!

This morning we woke up just before 4am and drifted over shallow coral reefs into Waigeo Island. We hiked up through jungle in the dark, past frogmouths and sleeping cockatoos.

Just before sunrise, we got to a hide where we waited patiently for one of the strangest birds in the world...

I made another thing with my @pimoroni.com Galactic Unicorn, this time for Christmas.

Produced after several freezes followed by reflashing of firmware and starting programming all over again plus a lot of swearing at Thonny.

But I quite like the result anyway.

I've seen a few people mention it -- in addition to his tremendous run of feature films and his starring role in one of the most popular & acclaimed sitcoms of all time, Rob Reiner also got 6 episodes of one of the most strange & ambitious projects to ever air on CBS primetime, Morton & Hayes...

I fucking love this. "Rob told Billy to forget the lines and what followed was a 30 hour of Medieval Yiddish stand up" Forget Ancient Rome, if I get a time machine then this is where I am going.
TIL nearly all of the "Miracle Max" scene from Princess Bride was improvised by Billy Crystal, and it took three ten hour days to shoot, because they couldn't get through his improv without everyone (cast and crew) laughing so hard it ruined the audio.

Mandy Patinkin bruised a rib holding it in.
