While I was waiting for a call from the auto mechanic, unpacking records, I thought of something. #jazzsky.
Much-discussed Charles Schultz’ vinyl record collector and little kid I relate to - Charles Brown - examines my collection as I unpack it, expressing pride in -his- collection that I mistake and appropriate as my own.

I was a middle school kid when SNL happened.

I was that hyper-nerd who was curious about who wrote it - after I moved to CA there were friends who filled me in.

Names like Pell, Handy, and mostly Downey. Now this -

A study in Nature Communications examines the relationship between musical rhythm skills and developmental speech-language disorders. The findings indicate that rhythm abilities may serve as a factor in the early identification of these disorders in children. go.nature.com/3WyI95Q 🧪
Fig. 1: All cohorts utilized in the present study are illustrated (left), with details about which rhythm traits were available within each cohort (center), spanning the following: self-reported rhythm abilities, rhythm perception (e.g., rhythm discrimination), rhythm production or synchronization (e.g., beat synchronization), and genetic predispositions for rhythm abilities (i.e., polygenic scores).

I have a great job, but right now I have that 'headache behind my eyeball' thing and I'm ready to quit / retire / pack up my things and move to Wisconsin.

Mine have, luckily (?) turned into Box Storage Units... which is like a big, expensive box room, but somewhere else so I don't think about my boxes as much.

I miss some of my boxes.

Coincidentally last time I was there was for a wedding! Not enough time to go record shopping :) Lot's of great music-history vibes around there.

Enough pride / lack of total frustration that they’re intact and not wadded up into a ball, like I would have done.

That’s true artistic patience right there.

NB - I was a kid when this showed up in Dad’s collection. This was the Laugh-In era, and I was surprised Henry Gibson was on African percussion.

Right name, wrong instance.

Guessing @brianstack153.bsky.social has spent time @ Oar Folk. Or basically anyone in the early 80s who got to go to other Big 10 schools and was curious about ‘what do these guys listen to’

That city was on fire with music then.

I was going for "oatmeal" because I was in a hurry this morning and this trivial breakfast meant I could get out of house quicker.

But, you know, death works in many circumstances.
