Au final c'est pas vraiment une version simplifiée / plus accessible, au contraire c'est sûrement moins pratique de faire des trucs dans ce jeu (très peu de QoL) mais je sais que beaucoup de gens sont surtout bloqués par l'absence d'objetfs concrets et donc la présentation ici peut beaucoup jouer.

C'est vraiment bizarre Little Rocket Lab. Je crois que l'ajout de la couche narrative / stardew me fait le même effet que Spiritfarer, où la pluie d'objectifs et de missions donne ce sentiment d'exploitation. Pareil avec les petits pics de friction dans l'UX qui découlent surtout de la présentation.

Delvolver is being ✨ PUNK ✨ again and are doing their counter event to Next Fest (while still having games in NF to try and get more people in)

I think games in NF should have the NF banner overriding any other one honestly, this seems like an exploit.

IGF is cool though it's getting less and less coverage each year so I guess it's already in everyone's mute list, and also asking for people to go to the US (or find someone willing to do it for you in 2 weeks) in 2025 is insane

Finalist Requirements:
Any Finalist that does not satisfy all of the requirements of this section may be disqualified, and the Sponsor may select an alternate Finalist Game from the remaining Entered Games.

Each Finalist will be required to exhibit its Finalist Game at the Conference. Exhibition duties will include: (i) demonstrating the Finalist Game during specified hours and (ii) conducting oneself in a manner that upholds the good name and reputation of Sponsor, the Conference, and the Contest. Sponsor will provide a means to display the Finalist game at the Conference in the IGF Pavilion. Attendance at Contest and Conference is not required to become a finalist or winner.

Any individual Finalist who is unable to attend may chose to officially nominate a proxy attendee (the name and contact details of which to be electronically mailed to the organizer within fourteen (14) days after notification of nomination has been sent to the Finalist). Proxy attendees must perform the same duties as the actual Finalists.

Each Finalist will receive a $1,000 travel stipend, then will be responsible for all other costs of their own travel, meals, accommodations, and equipment in connection with the Contest and the Conference.

Hey here's an idea:
Stop fucking quoting those awful GDC promo video and just block / mute them
It's all the same thing anyways, the point was made the first time already, people will still go and provide value to GDC and get nothing out of it except maybe a nice afternoon with friends and COVID.

At the same time even if I think the game will be fine, and already has a gamepass deal, releasing a game during Next Fest isn't really doing it favours. People who go into it are likely to buy small games...
Though with the "too many games" crowd maybe Next Fest will become another thing to ignore.

Kind of rude (seriously) of Devolver to release Ball X Pit during next fest, both for the devs and for... every other dev with a game in Next Fest.
Idk, BXP's demo had a huge impact and the least you can do is not steal that from other games. It's an addictive game and people *will* be playing that.

But it's also a good representation of what's releasing every week, and why the idea that 15k+ games are published on Steam every year is mostly made up. The only way to see those is usually to deliberately scroll through exhaustive release lists, which Steam doesn't really want you to see

Steam used to show filtered views for next fest, basically the most popular, meaning you only saw the same thing over and over. A year ago they changed it so that in theory every game has a chance, only kicking in the algo sorting in the second half of the week. This edition is really rough though

i often see film people scraping the bottom of the barrel to try and unearth yet another 70's hidden masterpiece for the real freaks - another Lucio Fulci type. but in games world we are in the era of where stuff for freaks coming out every day to basically no fanfare! it's our civic duty to dig!

but yeah this is consistent with the fact that it feels like i'm seeing way more derivative "asset flip"-type games and student project stuff come up for next fest this year than in previous years. the ratio of interesting games is about the same, there is just way more stuff in next fest.

Oh yeah, everything is a lot worse and I don't understand the plan at all. Like I'm sure even if people love new tech and bought more Switch 2 than any other console, the next one would be a hard sell without a *really* good reason, and maybe GTA is that but everything else seem very unsustainable
