Making games no one asked for

This is an excellent analysis and matches my own thoughts. I was hoping someone with more development expertise could explain the use of ML/AI in Arc Raiders and unpack that both in terms of technical implementation and ethical impact on the broader industry.
The release of Arc Raiders has raised significant concerns about the ethics of utilising generative AI in a AAA game. It’s important we understand that for whatever gains AI delivers, who is losing out, and what impact does that have on the industry?

we've a little disco elysium teaser dropping tomorrow, and the full series starts sometime next week. we'll have 5 episodes, each is currently around 40 mins. it's probably the project I've taken the most care with, given the impact of the game, and it's unique development story. i hope it's good!

Never seen a game awards take I relate this much to and that's not just BS rants at Geoff.
Feels so good to finally hear someone else say they're just a mirror of games media.

🚨 MORSELS REVIEW 🚨

Would love to get some eyes on this! I know it’s an uphill battle posting about a game with a small footprint post-launch, but I think it’s worth making space for reviews like this.

Lenrual is a short game about trying to form connections and making friends. All narrative is expressed through play and interactions in this experimental piece.

We don't know. What we do know is the wiring diagram works. We built it, virtually, in @godotengine.org. We fed it scans of the books we found.

And the books are very, very strange. The "game" that resulted is also strange.

We're hoping people can make sense of it for us.

When you can buy a functional mini PC for £300 and the Switch 2 cost £400 this still doesn't tell us much.

Not immersive nor sim, no one agrees on what it means, especially steam tags, but it's not a pun so the term is allowed to exist. No need to pick a bad definition as a source and then use listicles to prove it's a bad term.
Or maybe it's just because there are enough "historical games" in this one.
Okay, in fairness, this is only my own work and not the result of a conference. But in unfairness: I thought it would be funniest to just plant this flag as soon as possible.

Cool devlog of a very ambitious game but... at one point they say "we have no budget", yet they keep listing different professional roles and say they have 50 voice actors (for now!!!!)???

btw, The Indie Game Awards FAQ is very bad imo

If your whole thing is to use the "indie" term (which imo people should not do) then you should have a way better definition than this.
"indie is a game that isn't published by one of the publishers we knew about when the PS2 was a thing" is terrible.
November 19, 2025 at 10:39 PM
So, are we supposed to act like it's fine for a solo dev to go "actually this isn't my debut game" when he just made free games before, and yet no one will ask AdHoc and Sandfall why they aren't withdrawing for the indie and especially debut categories?

They had a 100% Steam user rating, and then someone this morning posted this review

And I know it's haha *so funny*, but also, this person can entirely go fuck themselves
