Aside from Musk using it as a weapon (i.e. withholding it from Ukraine once they become reliant on it), there is the added factor of cybersecurity.

The rule of law appears to be a facade.
The likes of Trump, Putin, and Netanhyu have demonstrated that military force is paramount.

Even China who ignores international boundaries & is quick to utilise economic coercion is showing the world that they only adhere to law & order when it suits them.

That is certainly one of the causes - but there are others.
Cultural/family of origin factors play a large role (socialisation).
Historical issues cannot be overlooked.
Systemic ongoing racism leading to diminished opportunity and reduced affluence are also major factors.

It is not just your literacy rate but the lack of teaching of critical analysis.
I have noticed that many posters on here are not very skilled at critically analysing a situation.
Others seem to focus on specific details of examples given rather than see the big picture.
In other words - they do not

Most sentences do not appear to fully take into account the premeditated and repetitive nature of the offending as well as the fact that the victims are powerless and vulnerable children.
These are circumstances of aggravation and needed to be reflected in the sentencing.

Our judicial institutions are far too lenient on pedophiles.
Makes me wonder about some of these judges to be honest.

Absolutely - we studied how the mind of sexual predators (and pedophiles in particular) work - and it is no accident that they gravitate to positions of trust and ready access to their victims.
School teachers, PE teachers, scout masters, priests, etc..
They also tend to live near primary schools,
