This is super cool bc:

1) Many of the highest-risk conditions, like ME/CFS & Long Covid, aren't on the list

2) The best way to protect the vulnerable is to protect the population so others don't infect them

3) None of this accounts for Novavax which is not mRNA

CDC panel votes to limit who is eligible for this fall's Covid vaccine
Only people 65 and over or with underlying health conditions should get the shots, the advisory group recommended. There may be insurance roadblocks for others.

I don’t know anything about Magic the Gathering, but since you say it works as an on ramp, I have been convinced! I have done the pre-ordering!

We are one week closer to the release of OMENS OF CHAOS, and the glorious return of Magic the Gathering long-form fiction!
A book cover against a blue background reading COMING FEBRUARY 17, 2026. The book cover shows a blonde-haired human New Capenna shield mage in the robes of a first year Strixhaven mage-scholar, casting a domed shield around herself. The school is behind her. The text on the cover reads "STRIXHAVEN | OMENS OF CHAOS | SEANAN MCGUIRE | New York Times Bestselling Author."

Cat headbutts of affection are such a lovely thing ❤️
katmabu.bsky.social
Just want to remind everyone that little moments of joy are so important right now.

For instance, my cat does not understand the human concept of kisses beyond Incoming Nose = Love. So every time she’s happy, she’ll smush her face or shove her nose into ours.

Please share your joys with us.

Same again!! When I got home, I was texting my partner and my friend with so many exclamation points!! 😊
emilysimroth.bsky.social
(Only downside is I forgot my mask at home—of course, not long after I cleaned out the old mask clutter from my car, so no extras. Reminder to self to throw a backup pack in the car!)

And I had such a wonderful time chatting with three other fans of Seanan’s work—I think it was 10pm by the time we finally left the sidewalk outside the store. ❤️ @alwaysbeyondhope.bsky.social @lurker123.bsky.social @slightlymadcrafter.bsky.social it was great to meet you!!
emilysimroth.bsky.social
And shoutout to Towne Book Center—it’s not local to me alas, but their events look super cool (including the SFF book club)!

(And thanks to them for letting me buy a ticket just for the signing, since I’d already bought S&L elsewhere—making a mental note to buy a book from them in the future!)
emilysimroth.bsky.social
And thank you for your generosity in signing so many books, and giving me the SNM/TIS pins (which I didn’t think I’d be able to get anymore!) and the adorable sticker sheet *and* sticker sheets to send to two Toby fans who got Silver and Lead from stores that weren’t doing the pre-order bonus.
emilysimroth.bsky.social
I had an amazing time at @seananmcguire.bsky.social’s signing event last night—thank you Seanan for being so kind and welcoming and talking with us for so long!

These are gorgeous!! I love the colors!! 😊

I hear it's international lesbian day 💕 if you want to share a fellow lesbian's art, here is some of my favourite works with my lesbian blorbos 💕

#art
An artwork based on Romeo and Juliet by Frank Dicksee. Ipomoea is wrapping her arms around Reignn, stopping them for one last kiss as they are sitting over the balustrade. Reignn embraces her back, their lips almost close to touching. On the background a city can be seen, with mountains in the distance. In the middle, Elaine is standing while holding her sword, while the personification of the moon is sitting behind her and almost embracing her gently. On the left, Elaine is holding a white lily, the bottom decorated with more white lilies and ipomoeas. On the right, Elaine's hand is showing holding her sword. The same flowers decorate the bottom of the scene.
The phases of the moon are shown across different parts of the artwork (crescent/waning moons at the bottom, half moons on the sides, full moon in the middle scene). Camellia is holding Ametista in her arms as she pierces her heart with her sword. Ametista looks peaceful, her arms wrapped around Camellia's shoulders.

In the background there is a scene from their past. Camellia and Ametista are kissing in the gardens, a warm light pouring over the scenery.

The artwork has a golden frame with ornamental swords at the bottom. On the right, Thalia leans forward Eirwen with a red flower in her hand. On the left, Eirwen reaches out, her fingers delicately brushing against the petals while her left hand brushes through Thalia's hair. Around them winter is thawing, flowers and foliage emerging still covered in a little snow.

I’m heading there after work, I’m so excited!

I only got the e-book of Silver & Lead (and plan to get the paperback), but I saw the stickers and I love them so much.

Will it be possible to buy just the stickers at the signing event, or are they only for folks who bought the hardcover?

Weightless Books is a great place to sub to SFF magazines. Ebooks direct your device, and they don’t delete any of your issues when you cancel unlike others do/did *cough*Amazon*cough*

a canceled streaming subscription is easily converted to several spec fic magazine subs on patreon and similar services, some are as low as 1-2 bucks. the more you know.

it is really important for news outlets to be clear (unlike the nyt here) that Kimmel was suspended not because of some grassroots backlash but because ABC caved to threats from the head of the FCC

that fox news host still has his job.

They are forcibly detransitioning people. They are denying life saving abortion care. They used the lifeless body of Adriana Smith as an incubator without her or her family's consent. They are denying millions vaccines which prevent deadly & chronic illness.

These too are violence.
vickyacab.bsky.social
"they are going to use this against us."

where you been, they are murdering black people in the streets for selling CDs, they are rounding up hispanic people for being at a home depot, they are sending people to foreign torture prisons for tweeting about Palestine.

The terrain is SHIFTED

Utah was the first state to allow open carry on campus. A would-be assailant could walk right onto campus armed as they please and nobody could’ve done a thing about it.
nbedera.bsky.social
In 2014, Anita Sarkeesian canceled an event at Utah State after a credible assassination threat because the school’s response was that Utah allows guns on college campuses.

People have warned about this kind of violence for years. But they weren’t the people the powers at be wanted to protect.
