To put this more bluntly, Europe has largely outsourced its foreign policy to America since WWII. This has created the illusion within the EU that foreign policy remains a national “competency.” It’s not. So if Europe wants a bigger voice it needs to speak as Europe.
Europe has a foreign policy problem. It does need to engage in these talks and doing so as 7 or 8 leaders just doesn't work. It makes it easy to work around Europe. So the EU should pick a special envoy - perhaps the fmr Finnish president Niinisto or a Draghi type to engage on behalf of Europe.
No formal "counter-proposal" from Europeans in Geneva - whose leaders instead agreed to try to dilute or amend US-Russian draft to keep Trump onside - but a list of demands on UA territory, size of army & EU control over frozen assets & sanctions

For those still on X: Christo Grozev posted this: x.com/christogroze...
For those who do not know him: he is an amazing investigative journalist. One of the reasons for me to still have my account on X
Christo Grozev on X: "I happened to see an early version of the "peace plan" , about 6 months ago. It was a purely Russian concept and was nearly identical to what we see today (certainly the 50/50 Russian assets + EU investment in Ukraine reconstruction was there). However two items are glaringly" / X

I have long been suspicious of Trump being a Russian asset. Now we have a “peace proposal” literally written by Russia being forced down Ukraines throat.
This happens at the moment Russias economy is reaching the proverbial wall.
It is not Trump forcing Ukraine, it is Russia forcing Trump.

THE RUSSIANS ARE LAUNCHING ANOTHER ROUND OF DISINFORMATION WARFARE

The Baltic states are the latest target as Russia tries to set Russian ethnic minorities against native speakers.
Another effort is to convince the western public that its NATO that is preparing for war & Russia is only defending.

Another great thread with lots of details
1. This wreckage is Ukraine's secretive Bars (Snow Leopard) cruise missile that was first mentioned by Minister of Strategic Industries, Herman Smetanin in April 2024. The pieces in this photo are not arranged correctly but still give an idea what it looks like.

Now surely even Trump voters understand he lies about everything? Or are they so blinded by puppy love that they they cannot even figure this one out?

Trump's statement that Ukraine can win back all it's territory is mostly a message to Putin that Russia should more seriously engage in peace negotiations. It does not mean new US support for Ukraine, but it does signal that Trump will not obstruct Europe's efforts. 1/4

The effort to “decouple” Russia from China has failed. Putin’s rhetoric in Beijing after the Alaska meeting (which produced little of value) only conferred greater legitimacy on Putin. With the 50-day deadline to stop the war expired, the administration’s weakness is glaring
