Chihiro from SPIRITED AWAY is the most millennial-coded character in fiction:

- forced to beg in order to get worst job in the entire universe
- incompetent at work due to being coddled by pig boomer parents
- immediately starts dating her manager
- quits after two days to move back home

Banning street hockey in Canada?

This isn’t about protecting kids. It’s about protecting drivers from having to think about kids.
Get outside kids, enjoy the fresh air with your friends!

Fellow baldies:

I’m looking for a recommendation for a set of clippers (not razor) to cut my head hair getting the same look a standard clippers would without any guards

I use a typical set but can’t quite get the right angles and my wife needs to help, looking to avoid that.

I think if Canada wants to have a strong cultural identity we need to go back to doing what we're best at, making the weirdest fucking TV shows you've ever seen

Just whatever you do, don’t end up with a selection from Shostakovich’s The Age of Gold ballet in northern Canada doing a geodetic survey over the winter!

I don’t think it’s just that (I’m sure there’s a lot of TLM attending Catholics who read the Gospels)

I think partly what happened is that during “Christendom” the conflicts Jesus had with the Pharisees et al were historicized or applied to “the Jews” in general
They were scandalized at the prospect that strict religious observance could very easily lead to self righteousness. This is the problem with the gospel not being proclaimed in the vernacular nor preached

No serious person asks this question

Winter does not a Christmas movie make.

You need to *see* that it is Christmas time, and the whole movie takes place during that season. That's why Die Hard is a Christmas movie, and Harry Potter isn't, and The Thing will never be

sorry if you did this knowing they were so popular, but I don’t understand why you’d name your kid one of the most popular names in anglophone countries for the last decade+

Olivia and Liam—nice names but how many kids will be named those in your grade 3 class

while a good number of these may not be successful in either gathering enough signatures or in a hypothetical by-election, I love this so very much

It's also worth noting there doesn't seem to be any against and NDP MLAs in retaliation
Recall campaigns were approved this morning targeting UCP MLAs Glenn van Dijken, Jackie Lovely, Nathan Neudorf, Jason Stephan, and Searle Turton. That brings the total number of current MLA recall campaigns to 14.
🤠Total Recall: Nine UCP MLAs are now facing recall petitions in their ridings and MLA Dale Nally lashed out at constituent organizing recall effort in Morinville-St. Albert. 😬 Read all about it.

My own tuppence is that these fake relics work a bit like icons

The icon isn't Jesus, this cup isn't really from the Last Supper, but the homage paid to them passes to the real thing (in the case of the cup it'd pass to Christ anyways as its symbolic of his blood)
"As the jubilee unfolds, the question of the Chalice’s authenticity is reemerging."

LMAO no it's not. Can Roman Catholicism please just move away from fake relic-peddling and mythology once and for all? (That was rhetorical, it can't -- gotta save face and keep making $$$ from credulous morons)

I'd be in favor of a 100 year waiting period with absolutely no exceptions and also my Proper of Saints is full of Post-Its. I don't think these things should be in tension.
