Without the extension of ACA credits, healthcare costs will increase nationwide. Wyoming will see a 693% increase, while West Virginia could see as high as 654%.

We need to make healthcare affordable, not crush Americans with high costs.

Trump is no longer even pretending to have any kind of argument that his murdering of people in the Caribbean Sea has any kind of statutory validity. Just straight up declaring that he has quasi-unlimited power to execute people based on (nominal) suspicion.

Should someone celebrate anyone's assassination -- no.

If they're on US soil however, they have an absolute First Amendment right to do so, regardless if they're citizens or not. Every one of these people should sue the US Government for ..."millions"... Make it hurt.

The media attacked Biden for being old. Every. Single. Day.
They criticized everything he did until he dropped out of the race.

This behavior you're seeing is completely normal according to the same media.

The White House budget office said it is preparing to "ride out" the shutdown.

Instead of negotiating a budget that protects peoples' health care, the White House will continue to fire federal employees and wait.

They don't want to end this, they just want to posture while Americans pay the price.

We should have ended it all when he started openly monetizing the presidency at his DC hotel & sending his kids to represent the 🇺🇸 government at official international events. But he is One Special Boy and we appear to no longer be a serious country interested in the rule of law or the Constitution.

Trump's conversation with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto is caught on a hot mic. Hard to tell exactly what they are talking about, but Subianto asks Trump about meeting Eric Trump and Don Jr, who supposedly have nothing to do with government while they run the family business.

They’re now shitting on the Bill of Rights.

“Policy says reporters cannot obtain or solicit any information the Defense Department does not explicitly authorize. Any media who does not sign by 5 p.m. Tuesday has 24 hours to turn in their media credentials and clear out.”

Absolute fucking abomination.

The Washington Post and other major news outlets have refused to sign the Defense Department’s restrictive new media policy, citing First Amendment concerns.

I'm sorry, is the Trump Administration talking to a tech platform?

Is it...requesting content moderation?
Today following outreach from @thejusticedept, Facebook removed a large group page that was being used to dox and target @ICEgov agents in Chicago.
The wave of violence against ICE has been driven by online apps and social media campaigns designed to put ICE officers at risk just for doing their jobs. The Department of Justice will continue engaging tech companies to eliminate platforms where radicals can incite imminent violence against federal law enforcement.

I do want you all to fight! But please don’t start carving out exceptions to lessen the pain for this or that group otherwise there will be no incentive to reach an agreement to re-open the whole government. That would give Vought even more of a free hand to permanently fire people & kill services.

This is a hugely important thread.🧵

It is not arcana. It is about a bedrock of the separation of powers that keeps the US from dictatorship. That is: Congress controls the purse & directs how federal $$ is spent.

Violating that to “pay the troops” is a giant nail in the coffin of the Constitution.

However Congress also jealously (-ish, lately) guards the power of the purse and so implements limits on this

The $8B that everyone is talking about is the *total* reprogramming authority for FY25, per the CR. That means that is the *total* amount money that can be reprogrammed under this authority

“If Congress lays down its arms on its most fundamental authority, I don’t know what leg they’re going to have to stand on,” said Brendan Buck, aide to former GOP House speakers Ryan and Boehner.

Agreed. It’s a baffling & frightening threat to the constitutional order.

Congress is losing its grip on the power to spend Americans’ money
Congress is supposed to control spending, but increasingly, the White House is dictating how America’s money is used.

Q: We've seen images out of Chicago of federal agents shooting faith leaders with pepper balls and arresting journalists. Where's the limit for you on what's acceptable conduct by federal agents?

MIKE JOHNSON: I've not seen them cross the line yet.
