Some people have “It’s All Gender.” Others prefer “Housing Theory of Everything.”

My preferred mental model is “Elite Reproduction Crisis.”
i think we write this stuff off as the weird neuroses of high SES parents but what these people actually want is a heritable burgher class that their children have a guarenteed spot in

Honestly it's funny that he is *quite literally* saying "deregulate and reduce the burden of taxation on business to create jobs" and nobody on the left will criticise him. Good.
Soon small businesses won’t have to wait for Small Business Saturday to get attention from their Mayor.

Some changes that they can look forward to:

Back in the mid 2010s I saw so many people take the advice “don’t write/work for free” literally. Like don’t be taken advantage of by a company but you still need to work for free to get better. Just work for yourself

My uncle is leading some sort of “wtf is going on” inquiry at UT Austin and would confirm this thread, with the added complications that

1) profs who fail students get bad reviews
2) profs who fail students get yelled at for eliminating tuition money
3) profs who 1) and 2) get fired
We're seeing possibly the worst attendance in history. Even in creative writing classes, where students generally want to participate and have their voice heard--they're not showing up, ignoring guidelines and feedback, and either describing expectations as "unclear" or simply refusing to comply.

Bob Crumb coming out of retirement just to say "RFK Jr. is right about vaccines and my ex-wife should've taken more advice from me" is such a fitting end to Boomer Americana and everything the "alt-comix" movement claimed to stand for

I knew a kid like this growing up. He wanted to write video games. So he played video games All. The. Time. Never read a book.

As far as I know, he has never held a real job.
I've never encountered more students who say they hate reading. Students who want to be teachers, writers, or both. I wonder if "hate" means "I have trouble reading," but I also talk with so many students who write in a genre but refuse to read in it. They can't see themselves in relation to others.

Well they might have, but their boss is trying to defund the elite law schools that want to launder them back into respectability
I hope the best military and civilian lawyers up and down the chain of command don't think they're getting the John Yoo treatment.
This is a lot of words to say, “Yikes! That Washington Post story about us illegally killing survivors on the open seas was 100% correct!”

I think it’s cute that the MAGA business types thought they could ride the 2021-2024 D backlash so hard that they could convince a critical mass of companies to incorporate outside of Delaware and delist from NYSE or NASDAQ

PUT ME IN COACH, I AM READY TO SOLVE THE ELITE REPRODUCTION CRISIS

FEDERAL FUNDING CAPPED BY STUDENT BODY SIZE AND TT FACULTY-TO-STUDENT RATIO

THEN GIVE 20 ZILLION DOLLARS TO CUNY
They should strip the funding from these schools and redirect the funds to schools who didn’t cower when D’s are back in power.

GovTech (derogatory) is the output of complex systems and processes — notably RFPs — that were not designed for software procurement.

The most successful public sector tech projects, at least in the US, tend to emerge from groups that have been allowed to customize this process. 18F, for example.
Tech in the public sector here is often profound dogshit compared to many other places, it's wild
"Even as we have progressed technologically" has me thinking of a conversation I had yesterday with a relative visiting from England. He said the people working customs at the US airport where he arrived were understaffed, rude, and lacking in the technology that speeds visitors through in the UK.
