The Indigenous peoples of the Americas, the Caribbean, we were never wiped out. We're still here.

Yes, the slave trade and settlements from Spain and other countries populated the islands. People mixed. Married.

It's a brutal history.

Still today, I honor that Indigenous people are still here.

The remnants of Typhoon Halong battered western Alaska overnight. Homes, with people in them, have literally been swept into the Bering Strait.

I kiss her because I want to stop talking. I take her cup, place it on the table, and kiss her again, more forcefully so there’s no mistaking my goals. As she leans back, I draw up her shirt and suck her breasts. Then, the hunger morphs. My claws come out. Entranced by her smell, I cover her neck with slow, broad licks. “Do you want my blood?” she asks. “Please,” I answer as my fangs descend. I want to do more playful things, but once that door is opened, it can’t be closed. She trembles beneath me as I cut her with a kiss, sometimes gently, but often not these days. I am a predator, and she is prey carved open to yield heavenly food. Swallow after swallow, I am weightless, and Annie moans. I can’t help it—I sink my fangs deeper, and a growl escapes. Her skin gives easily, and all I want to do is tear it open. We’re toying with danger, and she enjoys it as much as I do, but it doesn’t help my willpower to stop. Her smell and the flavor of her blood are now thoroughly associated with indulgence, a high unlike anything I’ve ever had—and I’ve escaped into drug-induced oblivion with unhealthy frequency.

Queen, and a spirit of war and lust haunting him and weakening his principles of justice and progress. He wants to be a fair ruler who doesn’t just consume his enemies (or sexual partners), but this nature is deeply embedded within him and he struggles throughout the story.

This is a very interesting question because I thought a lot about my books carrying on without me back when I had much less mental fortitude and thought a lot about unaliving myself but I never really considered much *what exactly* I wanted people to think about them except "good art"

This did not stop him from engaging in mercenary work and often killing bees of other Hives when paid well enough, and he didn't make much effort to stop abuse when he saw it. He believes survival of the fittest is the rule of the land and people who stand out or try to be different die young.
