Anyway, you can give $5 tax deductible to PBS for their app and get Ken Burns Revolutionary War doc along with Lupita and Sandra Oh in Twelfth Night and not pollute all of Memphis while you’re watching it.
First trailer for Darren Aranofsky's new AI animated series 'On This Day... 1776'

• Tells short narrative stories about the Revolutionary War

• Uses Gen AI tools, including tech made by Google DeepMind

• Has SAG voice actors

I could hear the crows making an absolute racket, so I wandered outside to see what was going on. Quickly spotted this red-tailed hawk chilling in one of our trees.
🫡 to the neighborhood watch. 😄

Folks, please don’t tell artists they shouldn’t be making or selling their art right now. For many, it’s how they pay the bills. Art is vital during times like this. ALL ART. Whether it’s a protest sign or a book cover or just a beautiful drawing. It’s part of the heart of humanity.

I really hate that these blinding LED headlights are so widespread, I’m beginning to see differences in the tints: pink, purple, and blue. 😵‍💫

Definite uptick in Bluesky content aggregators taking legit clips regarding Minnesota from a few days or weeks ago and posting them without any sort of timestamp context, which gives the impression of them happening today, which then gets clicks. Be vigilant with what and how you share.

My husband is working with a group delivering groceries to families from an overwhelmingly Hispanic school in Mpls. He will be buying groceries this Friday. $350 will finish covering their food needs for the week; if he raises more he will buy TP/laundry detergent. Venmo: Edward-Burke-MSP.

I've seen five or six similar posts today regarding emails purporting to be from authors, agents, and publishers, along with the four I've received from nonexistent book clubs and the one from the Editorial Director of Penguin.

If you get any unsolicited book-related messaging, assume it's a scam.
EXTREMELY IMPORTANT:

If you receive a marketing pitch from "Smart Bitches Strategic Partnerships," IT IS NOT US.

Big thanks to the Cold War historian who forwarded me the scam email he received.

AGAIN: NOT US.

Libraries need to be more vocal about the digital pricing problem. I only buy for Sora (the school version of Libby) when specifically requested by a patron. I talk a lot about why I don't buy on the regular and patrons are always shocked at the price difference. I have to pay $75 not $1.99!
Your Libby rental was free for you, but did you know it cost the D.C. Public Library $59.99?

The e-book boom (and a complicated pricing model from publishers) has left library systems strapped for cash. But D.C. lawmakers have a plan to fight back. 51st.news/ebooks-are-e...
Libraries can't afford e-books. D.C. lawmakers have a plan.
The demand and price for e-books is up — and it’s busting the D.C. Public Library budget.

Hey cuties. Everything sucks ass. Get some valentines and send them to your friends.

I'm sad. You're sad. They're probably sad.

Send them a valentine.

It keeps Skype a Scientist running, which hey, is very good too.

Just got back from my first pottery throwing class. I had absolutely no idea what I was doing, but the instructor said I did a great job, and I had so much fun. All I could do was focus on clay and wheel in front of me, and it was a great mental break. 10/10 do recommend. 🤗

Doing a little reference sketching, and now I’m mad because there are a couple of lines in this thing that are *perfect* and I’m definitely not going to be able to reproduce them. 😅 🎨

One small thing you can do today: ICE is ramping up in Maine. Food For All is delivering meals to 300 families that can't leave their homes. They need $7k a day to continue operations. The Culture Study community is raising enough to cover a day—join us?

I personally don't tell people who have been fighting their hearts out daily for weeks not to celebrate wins of any size. I certainly don't do that when I've been nowhere near the place where the fight has been happening and have done little more than make some donations from miles away.

For those who may not know, Rep. Castro has been working on confirming Liam’s whereabouts while in DC. Rep Chris Murphy was here in Texas and denied entry into the Dilly facility where Liam is believed to be. Here’s the update given a few days ago: bsky.app/profile/joaq...
(Sorry to QP you, Erik)
I have a question. How come none of you are going to down there to get him
Reminder that, as of the latest reports, Liam Ramos is still in prison in Texas - now for 5 days.

His parents are legal asylum seekers with no criminal record.
