Sadly, this is a great word to capture the current state of affairs. I want it to catch on but wish it didn't have to.

We needed a word beyond patriarchy or andocracy for where Trump, Hegseth, Project 2025 are trying to take us. This is beyond men in power. It is men in power actively hating, assaulting, raping women. Former Charlotte mayor @jenrobertsnc.bsky.social nailed it last year: "misogynocracy." 1/2

This is a good thread. I believe the word "equivocation"—switching between two distinct meanings of a word in the middle of an argument—describes the dishonest rhetorical strategy that Parker criticizes. It's useful to recognize & to call that out when we see it.
These takes are obnoxious because they're technically correct in the most pedantic way while completely missing the point. Here’s why it’s annoying:

This is huge and important. Keep amplifying the harm done by the Trump/Miller zealous, cruel overreach. Don’t bury this.
BREAKING: The decision suggested that the scale of President Trump’s mass deportation campaign — an issue that is at the heart of his presidency — is hurting industries and constituencies that he does not want to lose.
