Good morning new followers!

My name is Derek, I live in Edmonton and work for a progressive political party

You won’t see much of politics here though, I mostly use this account as a bit of an escape!

I’ll be posting about the things that bring me joy: comics, D&D, my dog, pop culture
I was surprised by it! I had a good time and would watch it again

The fascinating replies to this fine question have taught me how I passionately HATE the word “Literature”. I loathe it. I’ve encountered SO much snobbery tied up with that one word. Into the Mariana Trench with it. Replace it with, say, “stories”: “English Stories”. “World Stories”. That’ll do me.
Tell me your most unhinged literary opinion, as a little treat
That was great! Thanks for sharing
It’s cinnamon and nutmeg! Who actually hates cinnamon and nutmeg, no one I tell you! But you call it “pumpkin spice” and people lose their minds
I knew it! I wish we got 12 more issues of Krypto the Littlest Hobo

It's been a great read so far, thanks Ryan!
That’s how the bush goblins get ya
Wow, three collections of these, you must really love silver age Hawkman!, you’re thinking

Eh, it’s alright. Not a fan of the space cop stuff, Green Lantern was already doing that better. Would’ve liked it better if they leaned into museum curator more, and used history like the Flash used science
Interestingly, the DC Finest has one issue more than the Showcase volume, but it’s much slimmer!
Third time I’ve bought a trade collection of these Hawkman issues

Showcase was black & white, the middle collection is from 1989 and is colour but just the first handful of issues, and finally the new DC Finest collection
Cause it’s playing while I read it
So @ryannorth.ca, was the Littlest Hobo theme song playing while you writing Krypto?

Is this ad appearing on every single website for you guys or did I do something wrong

This is why I play Ellington and Crosby and Fitzgerald etc. during my labs, and make it clear that I neither grew up with this music nor was alive for its release. My hope is that they will internalize this lesson and come to appreciate their generational equivalents, such as The Bloodhound Gang.
Of the many ways to arrange people into “there are two kinds” camps I’ve always found “interested in the world pre-themself” and “not” as a particularly useful split.
This is so fun. Nick Fury finds himself in 1936 and instead of worrying about how to get home, he’s automatically “well I gotta kill Hitler”
I *love* this use of their powers
Comics are good, actually
I got one of these, and really enjoy it. Not sure what i'll use it for at home, but it's going to store something!

News is out! It’s such a joy and honor to do this short with @gurihiru.bsky.social

Thanks to all of you for making Jeff such a star that he’s the character getting this historic opportunity. 💙

Telling myself that paying down debt is just as satisfying as buying new things is exactly as convincing as telling myself that broccoli tastes as good as candy

But I am telling myself it…
I got some fun behind the scenes tidbits of the New 52 and X-Men From the Ashes relaunch, it was great
Marcus drew a little sketch in every trade I brought (and I brought a stack), it was great. Pictured are Gambit, Jubilee, and Betsy Braddock in some Excalibur books, plus Huntress from her New 52 miniseries.

They probably had more money to offer big creators, but I also feel an editorial difference (in my limited reading so far).
It’s definitely scratching an itch right now, and Bookoutlet was flooded with these
