I've been listening to the 2020 deep-pandemic episodes, and it's been rough -- but also I feel like it's BONDED me to the podcast. I have a tearful response now when I hear the theme song.

I got to read an early copy of 'Everybody's Perfect,' and it's wonderful. Like nothing I've ever read before.
I have the proofs for Everybody's Perfect, which means I have to stop writing my current novel, Sunlit Uplands, to work on this old thing, last year's book, which couldn't be more different if I tried. (Which I don't. It just happens.) It's good it's a step closer to you being able to read it but...

Please don't pirate books.
If you can't pay for a book, there is already a solution for you: use a library.
Whatever you think authors, illustrators, and other book career people make, it's less than that. By a lot. Stealing from us isn't heroic, it's crushing.

I've written Spider-Man a *little* bit before. (I did one short where he went to a wedding, and another where he took some good photos.) But this was the first time I felt like I was legitimately WRITING Spider-Man. Like, having to think like him in all of these relationships and scenarios. FUN!

Sometimes I catch myself being TOO clever or TOO pleasant online, and then I think, "Not today, LLM. Eat somewhere else."
I hope that my social media followers enjoy my posts. I'm really working on "not being clever enough in public to mind when my words are fed directly into the maw of a large language model" and still "interesting in a pleasant way."
