Rob Reiner: I'm going to make a coming of age drama, a fantasy adventure story, a romantic comedy, a psychological horror and then a courtroom drama.

Us: Across your entire career?

Reiner: In a 6 year period.

Us: That sounds-

Reiner: -Each one will be arguably the best movie in that genre.

An excellent review of this area's earthquake history and the 2016 Kaikoura quake.

Remember the escarpment that rose out of the sea and killed off crayfish, pāua and other sea life? That faulted at 12km *per second*. The noise must have been incredible.

The Kaikōura-North Canterbury region is a mountainous region in the northeast part of the South Island. The Alpine Fault splays into the Marlborough Fault System, including the Awatere, Clarence, and Hope Faults. These are all high slip rate faults capable of M 7+ earthquakes. 1/ 🧪

A seal walks into a bar. In this case, an adorable seal pup waddled into a suburban pub, just as the Christmas decorations were going up. Click the link in our bio to see the full story.

I once forgot to put brandy in the trifle. Had the bright idea of using a knife to cut through the cream, custard and sliced bananas to reach the sponge, then dribble the brandy/ginger ale mix down the blade to soak into the sponge. Repeat several times.

All I did was create hot-spots of alcohol.
yes, hello, I would like to place an order for everyone’s funniest stories of holiday food-related family grudges / drama / chaotic incidents / lore

Sing it!

Never forget that when safety issues were encountered - such as flash-overs along the ceiling of the mine, methane spikes and a roof-fall - the mine workers were offered significant bonuses to meet (unrealistic) production targets.
The 'accident' *also* totaled the fucking mine, from which no further resources were extracted, you demented muppets.

Accidents aren't a cost of doing business, they're a cost *to* business.

This is literally just prioritising the ability to kill workers above profit and sustainability. =/
"There are accidents that will happen. What I'm wanting to focus on is, how do I improve the overall economy and the situation that businesses and workers find themselves in?" - Van Velden. #PikeRiver

My daughter's school has just sent us a letter from the board reaffirming its commitment to honouring Te Tiriti and respecting and working with Te Āti Awa, whose land the school sits on.

They say "while national policy settings may shift, our values, commitments and relationships do not have to".
