"It's clear who is disposable..." -- Frankie Seabron of @harrietsdreams.bsky.social demanding DC Council legislate to insist all fed agents be identified in MPDC reports. Why did her mic cut out in the midst of her testimony? We still heard her. thank you Frankie and HWD.

Grateful to all testifying to DC Council on details of MPDC's collaboration with federal agents, demanding accountability and return to sanctuary city values. Powerful to see range of voices, from Ward 5's Robert Vinson Brannum to Merawi Gerima, DC Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression

Thx CM Nadeau @brianneknadeau.bsky.social for speaking clearly to the mayor and MPDC's failure to tell the truth on collaboration with federal forces. Therefore we cannot trust official info on related topics like juvenile justice and curfews.

First testimony at DC Council hearing on public safety began naming David Childs, Demetrius Alston, and Kevin Booker -- killed by police in DC within one Nov week. We don't say these loved ones' names often enough, but the testimony emphasized what's at stake. (sorry I missed the name of speaker)

Federal agents can no longer arrest people in D.C. on immigration violations without a warrant or probable cause to believe they could potentially flee if not detained, a judge has ruled.

It's the second significant legal loss for the Trump administration over its activities in D.C. in two weeks.
Federal judge limits warrantless immigration arrests in D.C.
Lawyers say federal agents unlawfully operated under an ‘arrest first, ask questions later’ policy.

If you haven't already stopped engaging with Amazon in any way, please consider shopping elsewhere. And share the word about Amazon's part in helping ICE and other surveillance.
ICE would not be able to carry out its enforcement regime without Amazon’s computing capacity. As internal documents make clear, without continued access to Amazon’s services “DHS and CBP would experience catastrophic, nation-wide outage impacts.”
This Black Friday Weekend, Skip Amazon
The e-commerce giant is powering ICE’s deportation raids while profiting handsomely from Trump administration contracts.

The @nplusonemag.com Bookmatch quiz is, indeed, great fun... see example shared below. And every year, the "matches" have suggested books I would never otherwise see or somehow missed. Haven't read all, but found some new favorites. Enjoy the quiz by Dec and the books for the long term.
