Intro post. I'm a single dad, I live on a pension and I'm struggling. I don't care how worthy your cause is, I won't be giving $ to anything, so don't ask. I need to feed my kid.

A Doctor Who Last Supper.

This is my tribute to season 13 of classic DW in particular, and the Hinchcliffe era (seasons 12 to 14) generally.

Top row L to R Skarasen, Antimatter monster, Sutekh, Styggron, Morbius, Krynoid. 2nd row Zygon, Dalek, Cyberman, Wirrn, Sontaran, Android, Cyberman, Sontaran, Davros, K1 Robot. 3rd row Forgill, Sorensen, Scarman, Harry, Brigadier, Sarah, 4th Doctor, Lawrence Scarman, Warlock, Benton, Solon, Crayford, Chase. 4th row Voc mask, Time Lord helm, Hand of Fear, Mr Sin, Mandragora Mask, K-9, skull. Centre all the faces of other actors to play the Doctor: Hartnell, Troughton, Pertwee, Davison, Colin Baker, McCoy, McGann, Eccleston, Tennant. Think of the POSSIBILITIES that Jim Henson would have had if AI existed when he was alive. He could of made a really shitty boring ugly movie without meaning but much cheaper too.
daveb23.bsky.social
Before materialising anywhere, the TARDIS scans all possible outcomes and mateialises at the exact right time for the Doctor to become involved in events and not actually get killed.

The TARDIS also really didn't like Adric...

Bringing Tennant back as the 14th Doctor was the biggest mistake made in the new era of DW.

I'd liken it to the production team, when faced with replacing Colin Baker, deciding to invite Tom back for another go.

As much as I loved Tom in the role, that would've been a huge mistake. DT more so.

How often do you think high-masking autistic people get "diagnosed" as having narcissistic personality disorder by people with no qualifications to make such diagnoses?

The last episode aired on 23 October 2022. Anything after that can be ignored. Once Disney was involved, I lost interest, despite how good Ncuti was.

And Jodie Whitaker did just fine as the Doctor, and the writing during her run was as hit and miss as any other era.

Can the AI bubble please be the catalyst that ends the idea of corporate personhood and brings back personal liability for business decisions?

It would sure be great if any tech CEOs faced any kind of real consequences for their actions.

It really feels like Sam Altman promised a lot of Very Serious Old People he was going to create capitalist blowjob jesus based off a tech demo, and now that the bottom’s falling out he’s throwing whatever he can think of at the wall to avoid getting disappeared because he wasted all their money.

boost your user satisfaction and growth with this one weird trick (removing the shit everyone hates that you added for no reason)
r/SaaS
u/soasme
I deleted ALL AI features... and user growth went UP.

Everyone's busy adding Al to everything.
I did the same for indie10k.com but it didn't work.
I removed all of fancy Al stuff - Al coach, Al growth ideas, Al "personalized" advice - everything.
Guess what?
I see more registered users and higher retention.
That actually make me wonder why now i have one page with one button, without all that Al thingy, but it does better?
Here's my question:
Is Al feature actually helping SaaS grow?

Smart bullies will engage in character assassination and isolate you from support, which is what has been done to me.
rbreich.bsky.social
Living a moral life in an age of bullies requires collective action; it cannot be done alone. Each of us must organize and participate in a vast network of moral resistance. From this solidarity we will grow stronger. This is what our current moment requires.

I know it’s the most obvious thing in the world but it’s really sad that so many people have absolutely no desires or dreams in life except to accumulate money and our entire world is becoming a fucking pit because of it

If anyone needs me I will be in the museum, lying down next to the bog bodies.
Did people really memorize phone numbers before cell phones, or is that just a movie thing?
2? Questions
I was watching some old shows from the 90s and noticed people would just dial numbers from memory - like they'd call their friends or family without looking anything up.
Made me wonder if that was actually normal back then? Did people genuinely have all their important numbers memorized, or did most folks keep a little address book or written list nearby?

What people mean by a solution to climate change, I mean the media, politicians etc, is a magical plan, that allows them to carry on with business as usual BaU, without the unpleasant effects. That is just delusional. It is the argument of the super rich, and neoliberals.

GenAI truly was the worst technology to come along at this moment.

An energy and water guzzler when we most urgently need to take climate action.

A disinformation machine as our journalism fails.

A bias machine as fascism takes root.

A job killer in a cost of living crisis.
