I went and saw Badlands today and it was pretty good. Nothing you wouldn't expect from a Predator film, but some fascinating imagery and alien ecosystems.

Mostly the planet looks like Earth, though. Mostly.

Elle Fanning pretty good as some androids.

Attention Bluesky!

Show me the X-Men!

Not sure I want it like that.

My son, 12, and I have been watching Invasion of the Dinosaurs recently, and I have to say, the best thing about it, as far as he's concerned, are the dinosaurs.

Easily so-bad-they're-fantastic territory.

Just look at how angry this T. Rex is.

Going back to the Malazan world again is a bit like getting into a warm bath.

Erikson is so good on so many levels, but especially humorous dialogue. Into the second chapter and this already delivers.

Bit surprised Karsa isn't in it, but then, he wasn't in the first one either.

f you see this, quote with a robot that isn't from "Star Wars", "Star Trek", "Doctor Who", or "Transformers".

Respond with the same actor as a Hero and a Villain.

Every time I watch Planet of Evil this little plant-thing catches my eye, because it looks so much like a skull painted red seen in profile. Nice piece of visual foreshadowing, unless it's just pareidolia on my part.

As Colin (sorta) points out in Behind the Sofa, this guy's name is an anagram of "D large bum".

They must have been having so much fun making Doctor Who back in the 70s.

If you see this, post a Frankenstein.

The not-so-obligatory "it arrived when I was half way through cleaning my figures post". Terrible timing.

Why couldn't this have arrived yesterday, when my new figures did?

Obligatory "it's arrived" post.

The presentation of this set is beautiful. So much glorious art.

Now that it's here I'm almost reluctant to take it in, for fear the AI upscaling will ruin my favourite season of DW.

Did alright on that one, I guess.

The classic series figures, starting with 1st Doctor top left and going L to R, top to bottom through all the Doctors, TARDISes, companions and aliens and monsters. Exhaustive list in alt text.

Tagged on at the end are the new series Doctors.

On separate display, the Pyramids of Mars figures. 3/3

Figures on the TARDIS set from a different angle, new-series Davros and some daleks, the Curator and 11th Doctor before the Gallifrey Falls No More painting. 2/3

My Doctor Who collection. 1/3

Overall, with the Collection boxsets on display on bookshelf (DW DVD collection fills the shelf behind the bluray sets).

Most of my new figures are on top. So, pics of those on the TARDIS set, and those not on that set.
October 23, 2025 at 1:35 PM
The Master from the classic series, and his TARDIS.

Light boxes are good for more than just illustration.
October 23, 2025 at 11:36 AM
Right, my final pics of all the Masters and their TARDISes

Pics of just the classic Masters to follow.
October 23, 2025 at 11:33 AM
Wish I had a decent camera.

It's possible I'm having way too much fun trying to get the perfect pic here. Still haven't managed to get them all in one image without some of them being partially or totally obscured.

The Master and their TARDISes, or just The Masters and Missy

Evolution of an icon.

If I had to rate the TV Masters it would go:

Delgado

Gomez
Ainley
Jacobi
Dhawan

Beevers
Pratt

Simm

It's good to see some local magpies making use of the water I put out for them.

Unfortunately I think they might be growing too accustomed to me being friendly, as when I opened the door to take some laundry out this morning a juvenile magpie walked straight into my kitchen.

Second obligatory "it's here" post for today.

I find it odd Aus Post used a different service for each of these.

What I was hoping for was the Season 13 Collection set, but that might be a while yet.

Changed my plans about going to see Frankenstein. Maybe tomorrow.

Obligatory "it's arrived" post.

Not the one I was hoping to make, but Character Options seems to send things by TARDIS. Damn quick!
October 23, 2025 at 12:31 AM
...History of the Daleks #18 set (to replace the Supreme Dalek my son broke when he was 2) will arrive tomorrow as well.

So, great day for DW collecting! Bad timing that I'm going out so see Frankenstein with a friend.

Worried they'll leave it somewhere not safe, though.
