Someone is making an ad with a montage of Trump verbally attacking journalists, right? (Ideally going back to Trump 1.0.) That should basically play on repeat from now until next November. I am so sick of this

There's a reason one of my mentor's regular reminders was "if they don't curse when you walk in the room you're not doing your job right."
I think it’s such a perfect case study for why “access journalism” to political figures is such a crock of shit. Most people can’t spend a ton of time with people without getting to like them, or at least sympathize with them. This is obviously an extreme case, but I think it’s always dangerous

If you had to pick the worst possible person to have their speculation on violent crime amplified, it would almost certainly be her.
This is nuts!
Why is WAPO writing up anyone’s speculation about who the suspect might be?
I get that Laura’s statements and actions are at times newsworthy given her influence on Trump, but no one’s speculation — outside of a government official’s — should be written up this way.

I remember during the first Trump term, one journalist was furious that I criticized individuals that sat on stories for their books. He basically called me dumb and naive. I hope he’s doing poorly now. Sigh
