Yeah I'm glad you said something and I hope they correct it. Overall I'm glad to see this coverage but there are a lot of details that seem to suggest this is someone who has not done a lot of reporting on the subject. Even failing to link one of @davetuller1.bsky.social's pieces when FND comes up!
The claim that unvaccinated children are up to 20 times more likely to develop Long Covid is also...well I'd love to see a citation anyway
Omg thank you because I was so confused when I read that!!
I need one of these little guys so bad
Maybe someone has already written about this, but I think it would make a lovely essay if one of us can ever face up to it

If you love trans people, if you love sex workers, if you think we deserve to have families... please donate. The amount of money my friend needs to raise for court costs is shocking. Please donate.
I am fundraising for an anonymous friend, who is a trans sex worker and POC. They are at risk of losing custody of their children. Please, please donate. This is a situation that is painful and scary beyond description.

URGENT NEED! HELP KEEP FAMILY TOGETHER, DONATE NOW!

We are raising funds for a pillar of our community: a trans sex worker of color who is at risk of losing custody of their children. While their lawyers are confident they can win this discriminatory case, funds are needed by February 2026. We believe they should no longer have to face this on their own, which is why we are asking for your support.

Goal: $50,000

Send donations with a red heart emoji to ensure funds are redirected to this SWER We are raising funds for a beloved community member; a trans sex worker of color who is at risk of losing custody of their children. For their safety and privacy they must remain anonymous, but this is a pillar of our community, loved and verified by those of us running this fundraiser.

Our friend is facing a trial in February regarding the custody of their young children. The case against them is based on the fact that their primary form of income is sex work. Notably, the judge of the initial custody arrangement ruled that their job was not reason enough to restrict their parenting time years ago. Because of this precedent, their lawyer feels very confident they will win their upcoming case. To defend their rights to parent their own children, our friend needs to raise $75,000 by February 2026. This staggering amount of money is required by the court to cover the costs associated with a two day trial (lawyers fees, expert witnesses, the court reporter, depositions, creation of trial binders, the list goes on). If they cannot secure these funds by the February deadline, they will be forced to settle, resulting in severely reduced interaction with their children. We obviously do not want this to happen.

Our friend has provided for themself and their children for years, fighting their custody battle in private while continuing to be an incredible parent, friend, and educator. They can no longer face this by themselves, which is why we are asking for your support. In our current political climate, we know that our friend's situation is especially precarious. This is a crucial moment to show solidarity with a community member who needs it more than ever.
Especially remembering certain other high-profile people in similar circles who have said some truly awful things in the past
Anyway I've been trying to tune out this latest round of discourse because god knows we've had the same conversation ten times already and it's not going to change anything, but @melissagiragrant.com, thank you for saying what you did with the platform you have. It meant a lot to me personally.
I feel a lot of guilt about "disappearing." I didn't have the skills to articulate the boundaries I needed, especially a few years ago, and so I just stopped showing up rather than hurt people's feelings. I'm sure that hurt them too.
Haven't read this poem since I was a teenager. It hits me just as hard now as it did then.
I make no claim to Italian/Sicilian heritage, as not much of it got meaningfully passed down, but I do get the impression that branch of the family was relatively fun and decent, as such things go
My great-aunt Pepita, who according to (very unreliable) legend, ran off to be a showgirl or possibly a lesbian
name an italian more worthy of an american holiday than columbus
Still very unclear on why/how this is making the news now rather than two months ago when it happened, but really glad to see a whole slate of coverage on the cancellation of the SOAR program, which helped homeless people access SSI and SSDI. www.axios.com/2025/10/07/t... archive.ph/zTA4a
I absolutely could not follow the conversation beyond "concentration camps bad," but it seemed very thoughtful and in-depth with references to both historical and current events. This went on for like half an hour over a table of the little tiny espressos.
Shoutout to the Serbian(?) dudes overheard having an extremely heated conversation about how concentration camps are bad. Every now and then they would switch to English so it would just be like "[bla bla gibberish] due process!" "[some more very pointed gibberish] innocent until proven guilty!"
Hello, internet! My friend K is *so* close to getting a (really great) accessible apartment, but needs $500 for the deposit basically asap. Please help out if you can!

(The deposit should get reimbursed if the funding source gets approved, but there's a chance it won't because bureaucracy sucks.)
A dear friend, who has repeatedly gone above and beyond to support me and other chronically ill people, is facing homelessness for the second (at least?) time. They have until 8/27 to pull together the funds to get their stuff into storage. Can you help?

[PLS DO NOT POST ON META FOR SAFETY REASONS]
Purple flyer with a headline that reads: "Help Our Trans Indigenous Friend Survive Medical Homelessness." Mostly covered by the text, there is a photo of a person wearing an oxygen cannula being aggressively cuddled by a very round cat.

The body of the flyer reads: "Our friend 'K' is a trauma survivor with numerous very serious medical conditions, who is being evicted from their home. Because of their immune deficiency, they have no choice but to live in the hospital until permanent housing can be secured. We are fundraising to help cover movers, storage, cat care, and other survival needs. K is beloved in the chronic illness community and constantly helping others despite being incredibly sick. Please help us make sure they are safe and cared for during this time! ko-fi/venmo: whangspangle"

Psychiatrists/NPs/therapists who could provide off-the-books, no-fee, Zoom-based care for individuals in crisis in ICE-targeted Chicago communities, please email me: [email protected]. Include whether you can prescribe, speak Spanish (or other languages), and available hours per week/month.
I’d really love to see @autisticadvocacy.org or another org do a “how to write an op ed” / “how to speak to the media” clinic for autistic adults, to counter this
The media has also published far too many essays by these "autism parents" who hate their autistic kids. This has increased the vilification of autism IMO.
it's bc so many "autism parents" hate their children for being disabled.

it's never driven by autistic adults. autistic adults grow to be, at best, wary of "autism parents"

Let me explain: States currently receive a percentage for each medical expense they pay from the federal government (called FMAP). That means they will receive more money if more people are on Medicaid or they utilize more Medicaid covered services. Block grants are pots of money that don't change.
Any block grant is a cut to Medicaid. Don't believe their messaging. Block grants are cuts. #HandsOffMedicaid
we're 9 years into waiting for Trump's "affordable healthcare" plan
Are there any ethical transcription programs out there or is it all basically predatory AI? Trying to figure out what to do with some call recordings...
On this note--where are we looking for up-to-date prevalence stats at this stage?
Deeply frustrated to see that this guide from @dysautonomia.bsky.social on how to speak to the press doesn't include any mention of Long Covid or the fact that Covid has drastically increased the percentage of children and adults with POTS.
