the world we live in at large, is a result of most people not having strong principles and views.

as a result, the loudest voices come from the people who are most easily subject to influence, or from people who have something to sell you.

being unprincipled is immoral

you shouldn't enthusiastically stand for an idea unless you're willing to also thoroughly consider, and claim, any of the collateral/otherwise damage it causes. stakes and consequences are real.

this is especially true when it comes to politics

oh also, in a divorce/split custody situation, the child should be the one to decide which parent they live with unless child abuse can be proven.

i think it's insane that if a child is subject to abuse, they *have* to wait it out until they're at a minimum 16 in most countries

i also think it's insane that, in most countries, child protective services are sincerely useless

children are not property, children are the most suspectible people to abuse, they should have accessible means to independence and nobody should be capable of vetoing them

there should also be much stronger protections for the welfare of children both physical and mental, in society

psychiatrists and therapists should not be able to practice without taking at least some minimal amount of coursework that focuses on schizophrenia/bipolar/psychosis. I think it's unethical to call yourself a mental health practitioner and refuse to treat those of us with the most severe conditions

here's another one: defibrillators should be both required and subsidized in every public space. and yes I mean every one. my dad had to do CPR on a guy he knew at the gym for 15 minutes before the ambulance got there. they refused to get one even after that due to the expense. a man fucking died

to end this thread, my last point is that i sincerely believe the concept of beauty standards, and the glorification of following them, is anti-human in many ways (racist, causes mental health issues through body image, etc)

the biggest problem that tumblr and friends hate is that, people who obsessively pursue pressing their body's happy button, WILL end up dehumanizing the subject of their attraction repeatedly.
