While birds and bats both developed adaptations for flight, the way they went about it is so fundamentally different it affects their possible ecological adaptation. Specifically, birds can easily shift to a walking lifestyle, bats can't. 🧪

I see AI slop in anything, I instantly disregard the whole thing. It's like finding a slug in your salad. If you can't write without an LLM, or you can't source art that isn't genAI, you can't be trusted to do anything. Sorry. Absolute deal-breaker.
I don’t know if anyone else notices or cares, but when I see a presentation in which the speaker uses obviously generated-AI images to illustrate their slides, it makes me immediately less confident in whatever other content they’re presenting.

Having older kids comes with mixed emotions - like, our 19yo had a 72-hour 101-103 fever (after a cold 2 wks ago). Like, he wouldn't have gone to emerg without my mom-nagging, but at the same time, he was able to take himself to-from there. Chest Xrays clear, waiting on throat swabs, fever down.

It’s good to explain that the CDC is lying and vaccines still unequivocally do not cause autism, even if it just reaches one person on here who has doubts. But the fight is out there, not in here; and the time to let go of the information deficit model of science communication was decades ago

I fully expect the CDC to post a similar statement that it hasn't been proven that Cinnamon Toast Crunch doesn't cause encephalitis.
This is completely disgusting. Today, the CDC updated their vaccine safety page. It now says:
“The claim "vaccines do not cause autism" is not an evidence-based claim because studies have not ruled out the possibility that infant vaccines cause autism”.

OK Ok oK, I was worried I was "wrongfully" recycling most of these items already, but, really only deodorant and Flexible plastics (was putting paper plates in compost?!). Glad to be able to recycle more!!

I am here to report that I, at the age of 42, have discovered my first chin hair. This means it will grow at the rate of >1 cm per day and I need never take my guard down.
