I get the impression that Americans believe they can just elect a president who is a tad less crazy than this one and everyone will be friends with the US again. I don´t think that will happen. The US will not recover from this anytime soon. A fair share of Europeans see you as enemies now.

I can't see how the majority of Americans will be able to afford this. More hospitals will close, more providers will leave the healthcare. The GOP is dead set on destroying this country. I can see people starting to take to the streets with torches and pitchforks. This isn't sustainable.

I doubt it. Trump has 1) proved to a bunch of really bad people that it’s possible to have absolutism in the US without resistance and 2) disassembled everything rapidly which means the apparatus lives on without him.
