RAND PAUL: If a country bombed our air defense missiles, captured & removed our president, & blockaded our country, would that be considered an act of war?

RUBIO: We just don't believe this operation comes anywhere close to the constitutional definition

PAUL: Of course it would be an act of war!

Stunning observation from conservative Minnesota judge who himself clerked for Scalia: “ICE has likely violated more court orders in January 2026 than some federal agencies have violated in their entire existence.”

We need to talk about the rise of "smol bean fascism" where you have all the guns and the immunity but the really scary people are the ones with whistles and phone cameras and they're giving you generational trauma and ptsd by filming you killing people for no reason

What people now can't appreciate is how right wing some of those democrats were in that group. I mean seriously right wing. It was a miracle anything got to 60.

Another world leader realizing Donald Trump is not a calculated genius with an Andy Kaufman-like commitment to playing a character in public as manipulation and negotiating strategy, and in fact what you see in public is the real thing, is simultaneously a positive development and very frustrating.
European leader spoke of shock at Trump’s state of mind after Mar-a-Lago meeting
The Slovak PM, a Trump ally, told leaders at last week’s EU summit he was concerned about the way the U.S. president spoke to him, European diplomats said.

that the president is a rapidly decaying lunatic is the worst kept secret in the world right now

when It Happens, we are going to get countless accounts about how bad it was and how everyone knew and it's absolute malpractice that the same media that went full court press on Biden Old ignores it
"A key European ally of Trump said he was 'traumatized' by a meeting where the president’s 'psychological state' came across as 'dangerous.’ Robert Fico, the populist prime minister of Slovakia … characterized Trump as being 'out of his mind,' per a diplomat."

One side effect of political polarization/sorting is we no longer have the blue dogs to contend with
remember how much you hated Joe Manchin? that guy really sucked! anyway he was to the left of multiple members of the 60-member Dem supermajority of 2008, truly a murderer’s row of dipshits

Good to see: Rep Jamie Raskin is encouraging whistleblowers inside DHS and DOJ to approach Dems and share info about failure to investigate ICE murders.

"We are now being far more direct in asking whistleblowers to come forward," Raskin tells me.

NGL I was quite nervous about having to renew my Global Entry (which is administered by CBP) while Trump is in the White House.

How much more scrutiny would my application be subject to, relative to when I last did this under Biden?

This is equally true in DC, where many future political operatives get their start as idealistic twentysomethings who are passionate about what they do but who are also "single and looking to mingle".
So, I don't think this is quite right (and this is my fault for compressing the point into a tweet). As she makes clear, she joined for ideological reasons. But the party, incidentally, has also been a huge part of her life emotionally. This is true for loads of politicos!
Joining a party for the partying and the chance to meet your future spouse doesn't really shout "serious politician".

One thing I see liberal outlets giving ground on that I feel the need to correct: it’s impossible to “dox” a paid public official
By simply reporting their name, institutional role, and political affiliations

There we go. Democratic leaders push to get rid of Kristi Noem, threatening impeachment.

In the moment, they'd probably get some Republicans on board, at least enough to force the issue. Move fast, channel the national anger over the DHS attack on Minnesota, and take back a bit of Congress's power.

Having lived through this at the Post, these people refuse to say, "I want to make this news outlet more conservative." So we get lots of lip service about new ideas, innovation and reporting. But Bari Weiss runs a website! It breaks very little news, and all of that is anti-left.
Part two of three, with Bari Weiss announcing a CBS News masthead, promoting a new bench of contributors, and promising "to invest even more in revelatory journalism:"

Once again, they are telling on their own vulnerabilities: social opprobrium. But there's a reason why the protesters largely aren't masked and the DHS officials largely are: only the latter has shameful behavior to hide.
TOM HOMAN: “We’re going to create a database where those people that are arrested for interference, impeding and assault, we’re going to make them famous. We’re going to put their face on TV. We’re going to let their employers, in their neighborhoods, in their schools, know who these people are.”

BTW, if Senate Dems want technical reforms, here's one: amend 8 USC 1357 so DHS agents do not have power to arrest without a judicial warrant unless they are GS-1811, grade of GS-13 or higher.

Real criminal investigations would be unaffected, but CBP & ICE goon squads would be severely limited.
