Oooh. So it isn’t.

(also long press on the qrcode extracted it from the photo and stuck the decoded content on my clipboard for sharing - nice)

Any qrcode that dense is immediately suspect. If they can’t set up a decent qrcode redirector I’m not scanning it

In 2022 I printed 6500 Qatar World Cup football stickers and started adding them to Panini sticker packs and returning them to stores. The back of each sticker featured facts about migrant worker abuse and deaths in the building of Qatar's world cup infrastructure.

WTF is going on with the BBC coverage of this story.

The court did not hear it was unlawful. His lawyer claimed it was unlawful. The prosecution said it was imperfect but lawful.

This headline implies undisputed fact.

The cctv is nearly all reconstructed - a couple of series back there were obvious continuity errors between body cameras, cctv and the camera crew with the fugitives.

It’s all utter bollocks and I still watch it :)

Good to see the producers of Hunted saw the first episode of Slow Horses and though, hang on lads, I’ve got an idea.

Yup. I can still remember an ex girlfriend’s number from 35 years ago.

It helped that it spelt out BIG-SHIT on the keypad. (She got a lot of prank calls, but kept it anyway)

If anyone needs me I will be in the museum, lying down next to the bog bodies.
Did people really memorize phone numbers before cell phones, or is that just a movie thing?
2? Questions
I was watching some old shows from the 90s and noticed people would just dial numbers from memory - like they'd call their friends or family without looking anything up.
Made me wonder if that was actually normal back then? Did people genuinely have all their important numbers memorized, or did most folks keep a little address book or written list nearby?

The first 10mph limit I’ve seen in London (it’s a really narrow roadworks with a contra-flow bike lane so it’s very justified)
A road next to some roadworks. A large white roundel with the number 10 is painted on the road. Between that and the fence to the roadworks are bollards marking off the bike lane

Phone has reminded me of the time a ground the corner had got his snake out for Halloween and almost lost it when it decided to actively investigate me
A man lunges for the tail of a snake as it rapidly heads along a railing towards the camera

Damn. Now I want eggy crumpets and I’ve already had breakfast and left the house.

Yeah - I think getting it running might be harder than playing it sadly. There’s a bunch of things from that era slowly being lost. Hopefully the internet archives emulator project will pick this stuff up

And guess how you measured the speed of a ship …

(And also set out right angles, but we’ll ignore that super clever use of knotted string)

Oh my. So glad I never encountered that one. Still remember trying to work out the photocopy scale ratio to get some 22 chains to the inch plans into something sensible

Have you played “The dark eye”? 90s CD Rom based on 3 Poe poems. It’s super creepy and really well done for the time.

I love the Union Chapel as a place. Been to comedy, rock gigs, choir competitions, school performances and a funeral there and all were elevated by and felt right in that space. That’s not easy for architecture to do.

Seems to have supported stupid poo jokes quite well too.

We did it! Thanks so much to everyone who came to the Union Chapel gig today (and watched at home!). We premiered our cartoon, got Bunny + Monkey on stage to draw each other, and thanks to audience suggestions we drew a comic about bums + toilet bushes.I also got to hang with Max, who dressed as me!

Today, The Word for World: The Maps of Ursula K. Le Guin opens at AA Gallery in London! Curated by Sarah Shin and Harriet Jennings, the exhibition presents a selection of Ursula's maps, including some that have never been exhibited before.
A photo of the entrance to The Word for World exhibition, with two banners hanging vertically down outside the doorway to a brick building with white-paned windows. A row of bicycles are parked in front. The banners are purple and white and say the name of the exhibition and Ursula K. Le Guin's name. A cord-wrapped rock rests on a vivid blue background next to a map of and program for The Word for World exhibition. A stack of copies of The Word for World book, which shows the title in vivid blue against a black cloth cover.

I’ve ended up with a spare ticket to tomorrow’s recording of @tomscott.com’s @lateralcast.com - at the Clapham Grand tomorrow, doors at 12. Anyone I know want to come who isn’t already?
