Seriously though, phone numbers were easy. Most of your friends lived in one of two area codes, so you maybe needed a fixed four digits first. Then it was just six numbers and the first couple were usually the same because that's how it worked. So really you only needed to remember the last bit.

Did people really memorize phone numbers before cell phones, or is that just a movie thing?
2? Questions
I was watching some old shows from the 90s and noticed people would just dial numbers from memory - like they'd call their friends or family without looking anything up.
Made me wonder if that was actually normal back then? Did people genuinely have all their important numbers memorized, or did most folks keep a little address book or written list nearby?

Keeping the same band name after the most influential person leaves is wrong. The right thing to do would be a name change à la Faces or something like Mick & John's Fleetwood Mac, Phil Collins' Genesis, Midge Ure's Ultravox etc etc.
