Swimming on the currents of time.
Every time I'm tempted to claim that the internet, smartphones, social media and AI have "ruined" something, I just remember how things were before them, and no - it wasn't better.

Things can change so very much to remain pretty much the same.

Tech bends to human nature, not the other way around.

Unitary Executive Theory instructs us that it is the foreign policy of the united states president to coach russia on how to convince the united states president that his foreign policy is what it is.
Q: Have you heard this audio that Bloomberg has of Witkoff coaching the Russians on how to appeal to you?

TRUMP: That's a standard thing. He's gotta sell this to Ukraine, he's gonna sell Ukraine to Russia. That's what a dealmaker does. I haven't heard it but I heard it was standard negotiation.

Weird how tech bros claim Fine Arts and linguistics majors are useless ("Learn to code!"), yet now they say the AI models doing the work of Fine Arts and linguistics majors are the most important technology.

This is an export tax.

But approved by the gullible Brits as they believe it‘a an anti foreigners tax.

Morons.
Announced in the Budget today: a £925 levy on the fees paid by foreign students

Asked on 24 Nov, the public said of a 6% tax rate on such fees...

"What should that word be, oh wise one?"

"Oh, I don't know, maybe something that makes zero sense and is unpronounceable to them. A glaring insult to their language's rules and all the ways in which they call themselves. Yeah, that'll do it! Offending people avoided."

"Latinx" is a great example of the American Taking-Offense-on-Behalf-of-Others Industrial Complex running into a language with gendered nouns, and deciding to take take the most stupid and awkward approach to it.

"In order to not offend people, let's make up a weird word to call them."

Genius!

My heart is with the National Guard members shot and killed near the White House today and their families who are left to grieve — the day before Thanksgiving.

These shootings are senseless and frequent. They impact everyone. We have to do more.

I used to have a US green card

After spending a couple of years in the US, I came back to the EU and eventually surrendered the expired card at a US embassy, told them I don't want to renew it

The consular officers looked at me a bit surprised

Wonder if they'd be this surprised if it happened now
I need everybody to read this and understand what’s going on. These are spouses of US citizens in the country legally. They have entry clearance and green cards, they’ve passed background checks and have no criminal records. ICE is taking them anyway.
