There's a couple tricks we always had for uniting the middle school culture when it gets rowdy: microwave fire, janitor health scare, and the break-glass-in-case-of-emergency Admin Shaves Head. You can rotate through all three of them if you have a 6-8gr school and quick growing follicles.
very funny to learn from a staff POV that this is ubiquitous, given that my favorite middle school memory was in fact the microwave fire
