They fuck you up, your mum and dad,
They communicate largely through 20th century tv references
And when you say 'they really Darmoked my upbringing'
Your therapist just says '...what??'

This is the case for a majority of people in New Zealand due to the response in 2020 and 2021 which could explain why our excess mortality continue to be lower than other countries. Lockdown gets proven to be the right decision (at the time).
A study on 1.7 million people in Hong Kong shows superior hybrid immunity to Covid in people who got vaccinated before infection vs. people who got infected first. "Our findings are a direct rebuttal to arguments for natural immunity," the authors write. doi.org/10.1016/j.va...

It's amazing how this wall built across Aotearoa New Zealand's Alpine Fault in the 1960's has successfully halted any movement since! We should show our appreciation for such amazing engineering and forethought.

anyway, I've run the numbers and the ideal 2025 startup is a gacha box network state, where your basic rights and taxation rate are set randomly when you pay the massive citizenship fee... if you had bad luck just play again, and maybe you'll get a zero marginal rate and exemption from militia duty!

In the song “Hurt” by Nine Inch Nails, further popularized by Johnny Cash, do they sing:

“What have I become, my Swedish friend?”

Like you’re existentially asking your pal Bjorn.

or is it more like

“What? Have I become my Swedish friend?”

Like you may have become Bjorn.

If you call it a “male immaturity epidemic,” a very different set of phenomena come into focus, as this thread shows
I'm starting to wonder how much "the male loneliness epidemic" is just straight and bisexual women identifying low-effort, mean, and incompetent men and choosing not to date, marry, and tolerate them anymore

Who among us hasn't been having a great time in a field with your mates before suddenly realizing you're incredibly stoned.
Legend has it that the stones were nineteen maidens from a wedding party who were dancing wildly in the field one Sabbath eve to the music played by two pipers. As Saturday turned into Sunday they continued dancing and were turned to stone for their impiety.

We need to develop an understanding that climate denial is first and foremost ideological and not driven by the supposed ‘non-ideology’ of rational self-interest/greed

insane local news just dropped. i've lived in a part of KC for ~decade and it's been an inside joke with friends and service workers that the local biz/party district is ran by a cartel of biz owners who bully out new ventures and replace them with generic dive bars for white suburbanites.

Well UH

One reason that the US (and the UK presumably, I don’t even go there) doesn’t teach children universal critical thinking and critical information literacy skills is that the idea that children should be able to evaluate or dissent from the lies of adults in society is politically contested.

Not bragging, but last november our power bill was $240. This year with the panels on the roof and the rebate it's only $74. In addition, we power an old Nissan Leaf and a flashy MG4.

How much do you spend on petrol per month?

If you can outlay on panels and an EV, do it.

Feminists are supposed to be the man-haters, but here's a guy who equates masculinity with murder.
A Palantir billionaire just called for public hangings.

“It's time to bring back masculine leadership to protect our most vulnerable,” writes Joe Lonsdale.

This is where Silicon Valley authoritarianism is heading:
