so why am I trying fighting games again after giving up so many times? nothing's changed and I'm at least a decade older. maybe I think my brain can finally attempt to grasp a few concepts without crashing + burning as hard as it used to, because I understand my MH better than I did back then

I've never gotten "in" to fighting games (despite having played a bunch of them a little bit); never felt like part of a community online or off; never seen any locals anywhere near me when I would've had time to go; and basically not enough connections to ever even get started before

I think maybe trying to get back into fighting games by way of Street Fighter 6, even with its decent attempts at greater accessibility (while still mildly penalizing players who take the option by giving a slight damage nerf), maybe wasn't the best option for several reasons (not JUST money)

it's possibly also useless to speculate about the state of the service this soon after a new character release, because who knows how many things are different in the networking or the matchmaking as a result of a large portion of playerbase trying it out

well it doesn't look like it's a "yellow card". and I've gotten several more matches with only one failure in between each at best tonight. which is just even more frustrating because if there is an issue it's intermittent and not well documented

my favorite essay by GM was Pop Magic!, and after reading it I essentially argued for making magic + mysticism more accessible (and fun!) by decoupling it from so much of the archaic + overly complex ritual that protected it throughout history but holy shit dogg this is so not fucking it

Morrison invoking AI alike to "God" indicates a severe misunderstanding of how AI appropriates the work of thousands, including their own, and someone needs to rectify their understanding ASAP.

But also it's a severe disservice to their colleagues anyway to use it and justify it like this.
