Everywhere. But most importantly, London, Ontario, Canada.
There’s a local political story in #ldnont that’s been a thing since late last night, and I won’t say more other than this: the previous council going about filling two vacancies back in fall 2021 was *awful*

I think if Canada wants to have a strong cultural identity we need to go back to doing what we're best at, making the weirdest fucking TV shows you've ever seen

#topoli #onpoli New from me on @spacing.bsky.social: When did we begin dismissing opioid addiction, especially among homeless encampment residents, as "delinquent" behaviour? Contrary to the claims of pundits like The Globe's Robyn Urback, there's much more to this story. spacing.ca/toronto/2025...
When did we start describing opioid addiction as "delinquent" behaviour? - Spacing Toronto
In a widely read, shared and commented upon column in Saturday’s Globe and Mail, columnist Robyn Urback asked a question that, I’d say, is on a lot of people’s minds these days: how did we “normalize ...

the Ontario PCs might get me killed and that’s not hyperbole
A sad day for cyclists. Bill 60 - which prohibits the conversion of motor vehicle lanes to bike lanes (or any other prescribed purpose) - has passed Third Reading this morning which will kill various cycling projects in Toronto & across Ontario. #shame #BikeTO #BikeSky #TOpoli #ONpoli #VisionZero

Met my partner in May 2022 through Bumble, we’ve been together ever since, and it will be one whole year on 15 Jan since I moved in with her. before this, dating through the apps was tough for me. Nothing lasted past a few months. I’m very grateful for who I’m with.
Anyone have any nice dating app stories since 2020 (not earlier)? Met a long-term partner, found their spouse-to-be, seduced and funnelled millions of dollars away from a witless American tech tycoon to be used in the revolution, that sort of thing

I wonder what a similar map looks like for #ldnont? I do know that for 2016-2021 alone, the census tracts representing Old East Village and 4 contiguous CTs in Old South were among those where population decreased
Almost everywhere in the City of Toronto has fewer people that it did 50 years ago

Someone should ask Starmer and Mahmood whether they think the Kindertransport, for example, should have been a return ticket. Whether Alf Dubs, rather than becoming a Labour MP and now Lord, ought to have been sent back with his family to Czechoslovakia once it was liberated from German rule.
This contribution to the volume of human misery is yet another policy from Labour based on a false premise, in this case that refugees are overly attracted to Britain. It will increase bureaucratic limbo, thus making worse the problem of "cohesion" it purports to solve.

Shabana Mahmood is expected to say the era of permanent protection for refugees is over, in major changes to the UK's asylum and immigration system.

This has been my gripe for a long time now. If you took the words seriously, rigorously, if we established a clear right to housing in the Charter, then you'd basically nuke municipal zoning nearly in its entirety — certainly as it's practiced in Ontario.

It warms my heart to see families bike together with them.
what I love about e-bikes and the world of small electric mobility is that it is a full scale transportation revolution no one saw coming but that nonetheless has the power to address air pollution death & illness, climate change, traffic violence, affordability, and also social isolation & anxiety
