Hahahaha whew. The shingles vax was a ride, my arm swelled like a softball and I felt like mold for a week.

But shingles? I wanted to DIE. I have permanent nerve damage and lasting pain, 2 years on!

And that's nothing compared to a former coworker who got it on her face & lost part of her vision.
I am baffled by this because I have had so many friends with shingles and NONE of them made it sound fun. Not one. A vaccine that made me absolutely miserable for 48 hours would still be a huge improvement over the mildest case of shingles I've heard of. (Also it made me tired for 1 day.)
All over my FB people talking about their bad experiences with shingles vax and dissuading each other from getting it! We need to give people real info on how to mitigate the symtoms caused by vaccines because vaccines are always better than meeting a virus unprepared. Yet drs aren't coaching ppl

Huh. None of *my* elders have been offered this standard of 'preventive care' - and they have Medicare + VA benefits, so *theoretically* their standard of care should be equivalent...
New — White House doctor's memo on Donald Trump’s recent MRI (which White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt just called “preventative").

The memo says Trump's cardiovascular and abdominal imaging is “perfectly normal" and that "he remains in excellent overall health."

So much this. Husband wanted to ditch the car & take transit after getting hit twice in 3 months on the freeway.

It was unworkable. We don't have reliable transit where we live, and that's wild.
I know very few people who think the cost of public transit is prohibitive.

It’s that public transit in the US is treated in most cities like the thing you slap on after the fact.

It’s an entire administration of people who wanted to be actors and rock stars but lacked the talent and charisma so they became fascists instead.
these people basically just take luxury government jets and go to fancy events like make a wish kids while their minions flashbang your elderly neighbors

This observation remains undefeated
if i've learned one thing from doing union stuff while also doing other forms of organizing, it's that you're better off with people you disagree with who are nevertheless trying to do the same thing as you than with people you agree with who aren't trying to do anything

Did my grandmother write his speech? 🙄
Trump's Transportation Secretary on how to improve air travel:

"People dress up like they're going to bed when they fly... We want to push people as we come into a really busy travel season, help people out, be in a good mood, dress up"

At 2 am, my smoke alarm decided to sing the song of its people (aka low battery chirp). This morning, I discovered my ice maker is broken again. I get that mundane stuff breaks, but maybe the universe could pause that if we’re going to also have to deal with The Horrors™️ every single day??

The Trump Admin will fire you for having a Pride flag on your desk but downplays & normalizes swastikas & nooses?

Over 400,000 Americans died fighting Nazism. Hundreds of thousands died fighting slavery & Jim Crow.

This is a slap in the face to every American who died to defeat bigoted ideologies.
U.S. Coast Guard will no longer classify swastikas, nooses as hate symbols
The military service, which falls under the Department of Homeland Security, has drafted a new policy that classifies such items “potentially divisive.”

Yesterday, President Trump tried to justify the murder of Jamal Khashoggi by saying "things happen."

Today, Senate Republicans blocked a resolution that condemned his murder.

The Republican party's refusal to stand up for a free & fair press endangers journalists worldwide.

Which is *terrifying* - because it's often nurses who save us from overworked doctors who are rushing & make mistakes, or who can't be bothered to listen.

Good nurses are absolutely the front and bottom line of medical care in this country.
So we will have nurses who have no education and who are paid minimum wage...
Doctor Here 👋

-The Department of Education just said nursing is no longer a professional degree.

- #Nursing is one of the most important and respected professions. Our healthcare system depends on them.

- #Nurses save lives!! They must be respected as professionals!

authors you have the chance to do the funniest thing right now
AI advocates have warned that if every author in the class action filed a claim, it would "financially ruin" the entire industry.
Authors celebrate “historic” settlement coming soon in Anthropic class action
Advocates fear such settlements will “financially ruin” the AI industry.

Additionally, they are cutting support for school libraries nationwide.

Does your school library have a credentialed librarian?

Is it open every day?

Do students visit every week?

Can they drop in to get a new book, or only go when their class does?
Not you? Your kid’s in AP classes?

Ask them about their relationship with ChatGPT. Better yet, look at their browsing history.

Professors are shouting that your kids cannot read and your local public school district won’t buy books or include them in the curriculum!!

It's me, too.

That was the entire point of #metoo. That one woman wasn't even enough. That a man had to derail the careers of dozens before people started saying "oh yeah maybe we shouldn't let him ruin the careers of so many people."

our crossing guards do mission impossible and I am so thankful for all of them, but JFC the fact that we need "Guards" to simply ensure drivers don't run over school children?
This is what is so twisted about our auto obsessed culture that we don't even see how we've completely normalized this.

It super sucks. All the doctors are using them now & I really hate saying 'no, thank you' when I'm asked if it's ok for them to use assistive note-taking. I know they have a lot on their plates & I'm sure scheduling has tightened to 'allow' for the use of this new tech. But ew.

It's ok to say no.

By my calculations according to her Wiki article, Megyn Kelly has a daughter who's around 14/15.

I wonder how she would feel if her own daughter was subject to the attentions of a grown man.

Epstein & friends were/are child rapists. There's no weaseling that, nor excusing it 😡
Megyn Kelly: "I know somebody very close to this case…Jeffrey Epstein, in this person's view, was not a pedophile…He was into the barely legal type, like he liked 15 year old girls…He wasn't into like 8 year olds…There's a difference between a 15 year old and a 5 year old."

Friends, don't cross those picket lines today. Make your coffee at home or try out someone else 💚
As of this morning, Starbucks workers across the country are officially ON STRIKE. And we're prepared for this to become the biggest and longest ULP strike in Starbucks history.

Say #NoContractNoCoffee with us: DON'T BUY STARBUCKS for the duration of our open-ended ULP strike! $SBUX

Hey so “underage girls” are…children. The word you’re looking for is children. They’re not like, women-in-waiting or women-lite or whatever. They’re children. I think some of you are very uncomfortable with what that means for you but it is still true.
