Yeah, my coworker has had it recurring in that spot on her face now too. And each time she is so scared that it will permanently blind her. Really terrifying.

As awful as it was both times I had it, I was intensely grateful it was on my torso & not my face

When I had it, I got it twice in 3 months 😭 In 2 different spots! And yes, they say my post-herpetic neuralgia may never go away.

But it's better if the people buying them books have some guides, so we get better fits for books & readers, in general.

There's not much stopping a teen reader from finding Swordheart in this day & age of online reviews & booktok! But it doesn't belong in YA, and Overfiend is not a kid film 🙀

This is absolutely the issue, right here. Or parents buying things for their 'precocious' middle grade readers and thinking that YA at least has some guardrails.

Most teens can find what they want in whatever section. And honestly, most kids (all ages) will nope out of things they're not ready for

Son's comment on reading him this story: 'well why would they be shaped like that if they weren't nature's popsicle?'

When my 2 were small & we were out doing a run/walk along the public bike trail, the children were delightedly exclaiming at all the frost patterns in the ice on the trailside puddles.

Then I hear eldest scream in horror, 'NO, DON'T EAT THAT!' as his brother is gleefully munching an ice sheet 💀

I think it's easy to forget that the awareness level of the general public is incredibly stratified, depending on where they do their reading. What is old news/obvious to many of us is entirely foreign to so many people! And yes, a lot of that is due to 'mainstream media' not reporting news 🫤
December 2, 2025 at 6:27 PM
The same goes for almost anyone who is offline re: gross behavior of people online. My mom, who reads her news online but doesn't do social media beyond posting some things to FB for her local clubs, had no idea who Charlie Kirk was til he died. People consider her 'online' but...there are levels.

It took me about an hour & 45 minutes. The heart MRI was more specific, that one took about 4 hours (!!!)

It's like putting glasses of water on the table in front of a cat.

Inevitable, really.
