I have no confidence at all that they understand what they're doing. Even the reporter here tries to point out the most basic problem, and the minister just bludgeons his way through. The 'child protection' pitch that the right-wing uses as their trump card is serving a similar purpose here.

been thinking a lot lately about how the baseline fantasy of m/f romance novels is "what if a man wanted to fuck you, but *also* liked you, as a person"

All my Aussie friends talking about the age restriction law in effect. Yep, already having unintended consequences. Who could have seen this coming? Everyone. Because it will impact more than teens/kids.

Also, everything O'Donovan wants to do is grossly illegal under EU law, and O'Donovan seems to think the problem is with EU law, which is pretty Trumpy, if you ask me.

Crazy coincidence that the Minister’s position is exactly the same as what Meta is lobbying for. The tech oligarchs must love us, we are the easiest marks ever.

Pretty sure we got stitched up by FG here - extended nitrates derogation (good for wealthy dairy farmers) in exchange for CETA ratification (bad for every other kind of farmer). Science had nothing to do with it.
"Dr Elaine McGoff, head of advocacy with An Taisce, said decisions like this are supposed to be based on science, & the evidence clearly shows Ireland has a “serious water pollution problem that isn’t getting any better"

'Bad day for clean water': EU votes to extend Ireland's nitrates derogation by three years
The conditions of the extension are yet to be fully ironed out, according to the Minister for Agriculture.

Well, a report printed in greyscale then signed in colour, and then scanned and uploaded is certainly *a* process you can use for your #genderPayGap report. If you're going to rely on colour differences to make your quartile graphs clear though, it's not one I recommend...

Day 8, of #artadventcalendar seems like a good day for a California Condor portrait.

Did you know in the late 1980s, there were no wild condors? Now you can see them soar in California and Arizona, with over 300 of them in the wild.
