Left unity has no value in itself, its main use is being a strong strategy to unseat FFG and the various rogue's gallery of coalition partners they sucker in to join them after each election. So personally I don't think this is either/or.

SF _not_ running a candidate is an exercise in left solidarity and it has potential to move the dial over the next few years. My area has SF/Green/SD/PBP/Labour/Left Ind public reps out canvassing together. If I was in FFG I'd be worried about where this leads - it leads to the opposition benches.

Out canvassing that is exactly the line I find lands. There's a straight line from Robinson->McAleese->Higgins->Connolly. If you liked the last 30something years of Irish presidents and you want it to keep going like that, Connolly is the only choice.

About 30 years ago I interviewed Neil for a college magazine (when Casanova came out). At that time he was about 25 and seemed awkward, uncomfortable in his own skin and somewhat puzzled by his success. It makes me happy to see him so relaxed and obviously having a whale of a time with the crowd.

Dear CEO, there is an issue with my protest payments from Antifa and the payroll department are not responding to my emails. I am currently forced to rely on my Soros cheques to pay for my socialist champagne. Please inform the head of human resources about this oversight.
