Too many people being unwilling to rock the boat is how we ended up here after 40+ years of rubbish governance and rubbish funding across the public research system.
That and people looking after themselves rather than working together in solidarity. Kate's comments about this are 🎯.

There are a lot of protein companies who suck. There are also plenty who do heavy metal testing and provide this information. I use Amazonia Raw (which has a section on their site about this topic)

So... the way research is being funded in this country is an exit strategy?

If you were running an R&D department and felt that the R was done, it wouldn't be unusual (even if shortsighted) to fire the R people and focus on the D 🤷

Somewhere with calmer weather than here! I’ve always thought I’d end up back in Auckland or closer too it. If I didn’t have the dogs to think about I’d consider overseas (adventure & job opportunities)

I absolutely 💯 decry the attacks on fundamental science but cannot help but be reminded that so many people pissed off now were silent when humanities funding was obliterated & don’t step up for Mātauranga, nor care about the rising misogyny their colleagues have described for a decade.
