TFW you tell your bestie (who lives in another city) about the big, hard things you’re dealing with, and you get a message shortly after saying “I’m baking you hugs” and a few days later this arrives 🥹

Was doing some sorting earlier and came across one of my art books from decades ago.
I painted these while I was travelling overseas.
A painting where the bottom half is black fading down to light grey, and the top starts with dark blue and fades up to light blue. Stuck on top are 2 skyscraper style building shapes cut out of white paper. A painting that is red at the top, and then blends down through orange of various shades and yellow of various shades to pale yellow. Painted over the top in the middle of the page is a thick black circle, with 5 small waves similar to a koru going into the middle of the circle.

I kept bribing myself with the promise of a Mozart Ball (kindly gifted by my #MWSecretSantaNZ ) to get to different stages of my thesis — and then when I got to that stage I’d forget and not eat one. But today as I was tidying my desk, I found them again….

Measles is a serious illness - it can cause deafness and swelling of the brain (and other complications coming from that), as well as the rash and being unwell.

Complications are common, and 1 out of 3 people with measles will be sick enough to need hospital care. Complications include: • ear infections • runny poos (diarrhoea) • lung infections (pneumonia) | • swelling of the brain (encephalitis) - this is rare but can cause permanent brain damage or death After you recover from measles, your immune system is weakened and it can take from a few months to 3 years to fully recover. This means you are more likely to get sick with other infectious illnesses.
