For the curious, this is what an actual effort by Republicans to distract from bad news looks like
BREAKING: The House of Representatives voted 285–98 in favor of a resolution condemning socialism.

Eighty-six Democrats joined Republicans in supporting the measure, including House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries.

They're saying its one of the most efficient taxes mr trump sir. Maybe ever. They tell me we can even get rid of other taxes if we implement it. The single tax movement. Thats what they're calling it.
Tonight’s discourse bores me

what good policy would you pitch trump in a meeting that you think he’d half remember well enough to keep talking about it
Trump in a room with a very charismatic person results in like half a day of Trump agreeing with everything that person said, so this has the potential to be very, very funny.

Gotta be honest, when i got to "expressing a desire to shoot the author", o did not expect the evidence to be as strong as "i want to shoot the author"
The account owner of @sarahkendzior.bsky.social was suspended for 72 hours for expressing a desire to shoot the author of an article. The post, made 11/10, stated: "I want to shoot the author of this article just to watch him die." 1/2

Ooh, ive got it! With bind dead, mi6 decides to make a gutsy move and recruit his nephew, alex, who must quickly adapt to his new role as a spy while also being a teenager
James Bond’s death in No Time to Die is causing a nightmare for the next film. Writers are stuck because Bond “was blown to pieces.”

Anthony Horowitz, author of three 007 novels, says:

“You can't have him wake up in shower and saying it was all a dream."

I think this is smart politics because it makes the GOP look unreasonable in saying no to the offer and I'm not afraid of saying it.

Can’t believe how determined some people are to be super fucking credulous. Let’s follow these links for a second. First, Murshed cites a prospect article by David Dayen:

Say hello to your 2028 undercard debate, with Joe Donnelly, Joe Sanberg, Rahm Emmanuel, Dennis Kucinich, and John Delaney

*We regret to to inform you that mr. Delaney has fallen ill and his role will be performed by Scott Peters
We need at least one obscure former Senator/congresscreature that makes you go "oh yeah they exist!", a weird business guy no one has ever heard of with delusions of grandeur, a former mayor of a large city, an absolute woo weirdo and John Delaney

Member when "biden old" was sufficient grounds for every journo to open a broadside on how irresponsible it was for him to run again?

Kinda makes you wonder why its crickets on trump only flirting with an illegal third term
President Trump said he had an MRI earlier this month, telling reporters Monday that the results had been “perfect” but declining to say why his doctors had ordered the scan. He also reiterated that he was interested in serving a third term.
Trump Says a Recent M.R.I. Scan Was ‘Perfect,’ and He’d ‘Love’ a Third Term
President Trump made the comments on the second day of his trip to Asia. The Constitution limits presidents to two terms, but Mr. Trump has suggested he might try to circumvent it.

If you claim, as Platner just did, that you were completely unaware the tattoo you got a decade ago is actually a Nazi logo then you are not intellectually competent to be a United States Senator.

This is literally the kindest interpretation I could make of this situation.
Look, Croatia is a country with some history of mishegas re: Nazism — _I_ know that, and I've never been there. But after getting a tattoo, if you realize that its symbolism is bad news you can get it covered!

I miss when we could have aesthetic and personal preferences without needing to connect those back to some sort of great societal flaw
I miss Blockbuster has turned into, not having Blockbuster is bad for society and I just don't know, lol.

Had someone tell me on reddit yesterday that they're totally cool with a primary challenge, just that it should be a younger, stronger candidate, like..........sara gideon
I don't even care that much about the Maine race, but the whining from the "primary everyone" crowd about a contested primary is negatively polarizing me here. Just win the primary, man.

Aca credits can be a token concession or they can be necessary for helping millions of Americans get healthcare. Pick one
If Dems win the standoff and get their policy demands, yes they will have substantively helped millions of Americans (a good thing, to be clear), but also they will have kept Republicans from a self-inflicted wound in upcoming elections

The GOP has been trying to replace Obamacare for 15 years. It still does not have a plan. We are supposed to take their claim to be a party interested in legitimate governance seriously.
👀 Marjorie Taylor Greene breaks with Republicans on Obamacare funding, saying she’s not a fan of the law but demands action to prevent a premium hike. “I’m absolutely disgusted that health insurance premiums will DOUBLE if the tax credits expire this year.” She says GOP leaders don’t have a plan.

GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN EXTENDED TWO WEEKS TO HIDE EVIDENCE THE PRESIDENT IS A MAJOR PEDOPHILE
This GOP move does several things:
+ No votes in the House until at least October 14
+ No swearing-in for Rep.-elect Adelita Grijalva D-AZ
+ No 218th signature from Grijalva on the Epstein Files discharge petition
+ Continues the House 'jam' of the Senate on the CR
🚨🚨The House reading clerk just read a letter from House Speaker Mike Johnson where he declares a 'District Work Period' from October 7 to October 13.

That would mean no votes in the House until mid-month.
