Hey, I'm Lewis! I'm a weather/climate scientist and I write video game reviews and essays in my spare time 😊

I like games with interesting stories, movement systems and collectathons (especially creature collecting).

We'll be a month out from release in less than a week 😰

A little scary, but exciting! We're doing everything we can to get the word out, so if you're interested in a narrative adventure game with DS-inspired art and a great mystery to solve, spread the word!

Perhaps, yeah! I think I default to trying to figure out why something doesn't work, rather than why it does. Maybe because the things that don't tend to stick in my (and social media's) head more
Been a minute, just because I've been playing it a lot and forgot about this:

5. The music rules, huh? Ivor's theme is maybe my favourite so far, though the mega evolutions fight music is great too!
It's always time for another Bloodborne playthrough
Thinking about her (Bloodborne)
1000%, one of my favourite Sony 1st party games. I remember being glued to the final act in Zero Dawn. It's awesome!
Geo-turtle power. Love it!
Just completely telling on themselves - there's a plesiosaur robot, which makes it automatically exciting.

There's hours of game around that, too! What more could you want!!
Yeahh, I have a weird new VS problem like every other week! 😅

ICYMI, I dropped a new album last Friday. Proud of this project and the intent behind it. If you like hearing artists figure it out in real time, or just want to hear me do a dark as hell Vogue cover, check it out.
Hello friends. Today, I'm releasing my first Duckspeak album in 5 years. Bones & Skin: 2012 - 2022 is a double compilation pulling together a decade's worth of my rarities, unreleased demos, and covers. It's a vulnerable, messy project that means a lot to me.

God, I use VS at work and I can't get it to stay turned off either! It's the worst!
My partner and I talk a lot about how games are compared - and that we think it's generally better to assess whether a game achieves its own intent better than another, rather than straight comparison.

Not sure if that's a good contribution here, but your points about intent made me think of it!

Hi! Today I made a knot in my brain trying to describe what makes good criticism, and why some of it can feel a bit unfair. This is complicated, so I'd love to hear your opinion!

What criticism is and isn’t
A game isn’t bad simply because you don’t like it. Or is it? Let’s break it down.

Games media friends: I’m wrapping up my contact list for *stuff,* and I’d love to loop y’all in early next week 👀

I'm quite bothered by the fact that my first instinct was to raise a criticism - maybe as a way of legitimising my opinion on it?

Anyway, this is now a thread of all the things I really like instead.
I'm enjoying Pokemon ZA so far.

My only real gripe is that it's very 'place marker and go' with not a lot in between locations and that's a problem I'm having with Ghost of Yotei too - so I dunno, I'm having fun!
4. Mareep is an early catchable pokemon - which makes it top tier, in my eyes
3. I really like the 2 other members (Naveen and Lida). They feel nicely realised so far, and their designs are fun. Lots of nice dialogue - simple and effective at getting me to care 😊
2. I found a Metagross, and the texture was real nice - shiny but... toy-like? Rad.
1. Absolutely obsessed with the fashion. I'm quite a tall, broad guy, so finding clothes that fit and are fun is hard. Pokemon letting me customise any way I like as either gender rules.

I desperately need to write about how both Legends Arceus and Legends Z-A deliberately portray a Pokemon World where Pokemon are an actual fact of life rather than a theme park attraction, warts and all, and how it genuinely makes the Pokemon world feel alive in a way unlike anything else.
The story outright says it, but there's an undertone in Legends Z-A about how Lumiose is Not Alright After Team Flare, and I think it's actually really fascinating that there's a Pokemon out there actually dealing with that sort of thing? It really humanizes the Pokemon world.
