Hello all, I'm Rine (same pretty much everywhere else), and mostly I video game and look to 100% complete things, between Granblue and FFXIV. I also DM a lot of TTRPGs, and try my hand at designing them.

My favorite thing to do in CAIN was to give them themey afflictions. It forced them to play around them, and gave them roleplay opportunities

"Your character now craves the scent of blood, if someone gets hurt you can recover 1 stress, but you add CRAVES BLOOD to your agendas permanently if you do"

Hope you enjoy!

Oooh, hope you enjoy! Planning on playing the sequel, or still undecided? (I 100%'d both of these, but I won't spoil natch)

I am trying to avoid the 'I will play a literally trash game for the interesting badge' but I am starting to lose resistance to it.

I thought that was Laplace, but couldn't be quite so sure.

I love characters with drawbacks that make you consider it. My notes had her being powerful, able to control a zone on her own if necessary, but she would leave if she didn't have an occasional 'partner' to 'disappear' and well...you can only recruit so many characters.

Even in person she's hilarious,

"Even if you could take us both, and I sincerely doubt that, I've lost count of the number of people I've met who thought they could outrun the Inquisition. But you might as well give it a try if you really want to. After all, there's a first time for everything."

Some art of my xeno gal Tala Arcadio-Yutani I made for my new art book, VILE OFFERINGS. She seems happy to see you :)

Check out the art book on my itch shop, link below!
My original character Tala Arcadio-Yutani, a human xenomorph hybrid, crouching nude with eyes locked on the viewer. Her skin transitions from human coloration in her central torso to glossy black on her alien limbs, with veiny purples and reds in between. Her bladed tail coils lightly behind her, and her tongue idly licks her lips as she grins at the viewer.

Everyone can now read this fresh piece on Kirby's debut adventure!

"The hero of this game is an endearing-yet-useless sweetheart."

(He even literally comments on one of the posters in universe as being blatant propaganda, and you can tell its intentional for the books, because he never uses a boltpistol, rather a decidedly less heroic las-pistol)

The Ciaphas Cain books personally have the most relatable protagonist in all of 40k. The covers have things like "HERO OF THE IMPERIUM" with him standing on a corpse with a boltgun, but that's straight up propaganda. Dude is raised in a progenum, so he's stuck graduating into the Imperial Guard.

The Gaunt's Ghosts series does pretty well too, though I think that suffers from a bit of early instalment weirdness + having multiple PoV characters in each book.

My fave 'outward hardass, inward softie' is Ciaphus Cain and his co narrator's footnotes. Peak 40k comedy there.

All of this is told in a memoir format, with footnotes by the inquisitor who is ostensibly cataloguing it for the archives, and not as she chides her fellow inquisitors for 'casual amusement'.

It also features some peak language humor, like the planet "Nusqum Fundamentalis" (ass end of nowhere)

'cept now he's a hero, and so being a hero they keep sending him on hero missions and as he puts it 'trying to get him killed', so he eventually takes an assignment with another regiment because its safer than the constant hero assignments.

Becomes a Commissar, pulls a few strings to get assigned to an artillery unit because 'far from the front, at worst you have to shoot a few deserters here and there', but keeps getting stuck in shit and ends up with the hero title. Being a hero is fine, he gets promoted up to sector command.

Ahh, hopefully its at least a good cost -> article ratio, as opposed to....a lot of boring nothing.
